Principal Responsibilities:

JCC Maccabi Sports Camp, an overnight Jewish sports camp, seeks an energetic, passionate and creative summer camp enthusiast to serve as one of our Assistant Program Directors. The APD will work under the direction of our Program Director and will serve as a member of our seasonal leadership team. The APD will be a spark of positive energy, helping make the magic of camp come alive by planning and organizing all daily camp activities and special events. The APD will also serve as the Unit Head for our Teen Leaders Program and assist in the management of our Day Camp. Most importantly, the Assistant Program Director will be a leader in creating a safe, fun and engaging environment for all of our campers to have the time of their lives.
The ideal Candidate loves camp, is a self-starter, and has experience in planning programs and working with teens. The Assistant Program Director must be extremely organized, pay significant attention to detail, and be comfortable working in a small team environment.
The Assistant Program Director must be passionate about Jewish summer camp and enjoy working with young adults and campers ages 8-15. Experience working at a Jewish overnight camp is preferred. The Assistant Program Director does not have to be experienced in coaching or playing sports, but should have a desire to work at a sports camp and an interest in participating in all camp activities. Responsibilities
 Assist in the planning and execution of the daily camp program such as all camp evening programs, Maccabi Cup (color war), opening and closing ceremonies, other special events, and theme days
 Collaborate with counselors to plan and implement evening programs and other activities
 Serve as the Teen Leader Unit Head, helping to execute special programs for our oldest campers
 Coordinate all off-site trips for the Teen Leaders
 Manage or assist with Shabbat & Judaic programming, depending on experience
 Create and implement late-night programming for staff
 Contribute to overall positive morale of the camp community
 Support the successful execution of all camp policies and procedures, including safety and emergency plans

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications
 Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience required
 Experience working at residential summer camp in a management-level position preferred
 Ability to support and/or teach core Jewish values of the camp
 Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and strong work ethic
 Ability to work collaboratively with counselors on camp programming
 Willingness to help with logistics and other needs such as administration and camp care
 Ability to work as both part of a team and independently
Additional Notes
This is a temporary, seasonal position. The Summer Assistant Program Director is expected to live on camp for the duration of the summer program, including two weeks of training (June 4 - July 29). Accommodations include a private room, shared bathroom and 3-meals a day.
Salary is competitive, dependent on experience, and may include independent pre-camp work.

JCC Maccabi Sports Camp is an overnight specialty camp with programs in basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, lacrosse, dance, softball, flag football and tennis for athletes entering grades 3-11. Our 2-week sessions combine high-level specialized sports instruction with the fun, friendship, and community of a traditional overnight camp.
Camp is located on the beautiful campus of Menlo College, a private undergraduate school in Atherton, CA, approximately 30 miles south of San Francisco.
