Principal Responsibilities:

Work Schedule: Sunday through Thursday and Tuesday evenings, Occasional weekend conventions can be Friday morning through Sunday night Occasional Friday and Saturday functions

Primary Purpose of Position:

The BBYO-Teen Director provides staff leadership, direct service and supervision in four key areas including:BBYO and Teen Programs, 6th  8th grade programs, JCC Maccabi Games local delegation, and a major role in the JCC Summer Camp Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Implementation of a broad BBYO program plan, that is consistent with the JCCs and BBYOs mission, vision, and core values, for the purpose of reaching more Jewish teens with meaningful Jewish experiences.
  2. Responsible for reaching out to Jewish Teens in Omaha to join BBYO. This includes planned recruitment events throughout the year, with emphasis given during Rush Season in the spring, and again in the Fall.
  3. He/she must take a leadership role in the development of BBYO chapter and council leadership training for teens.This includes conducting council and chapter leadership training for officers, as well as ensuring new members are trained properly by teen leadership upon their introduction into BBYO.
  4. Serve as Regional Director for the local BBYO program.
  5. Attend assigned BBYO meetings, conventions, and International Convention, as well as sponsored professional development programs as assigned by the BBYO professional. This includes weekly Tuesday evening meetings, and Sunday afternoons.
  6. Plan local BBYO conventions for the Mid America Region as discussed and assigned with the other BBYO Regional Directors.
  7. Recruitment, hiring, and ongoing supervision of staff required to help implement all programs.
  8. Recruit and supervise volunteers as advisors to BBYO chapters and in other areas as needed.He/she should be continually working toward developing a core group of lay volunteers to be ready and willing successors to current volunteer advisors.
  9. He/she is assigned to a major role in the JCC Summer Camp Program. This role is assigned each year by the Youth, Camp and Family Programming Director and may change from year to year.This will be the summer assignment of the BBYO-Teen Director and will be the majority of the position during the summer along with BBYO duties.

10. Work closely with the Community Shaliach to provide meaningful community wide teen service opportunities throughout the year, including Teen Mitzvah Day and other shiputznick programs.

11. Identify and develop new programming that attracts teens to both JCC and BBYO programs.

12. He/she is the key staff person responsible for the recruitment and supervision of the local delegation for the JCC Maccabi Games each year.He/She takes a hands-on role as the Delegation Head for the recruitment of teen athletes and participants, special programming for Maccabi participants, conducting parent/teen information and recruitment meetings, attend delegation head meetings, and take the lead role in chaperoning the Maccabi Delegation each year at the host site.

13. Assist with March of the Living, every other year.

14. Prepare and monitor all budgets related to the programs.Additionally, several programs rely on timely grant submissions for which the JCC BBYO-Teen Director is responsible.

15. He/she is a role model for Jewish teens and JCC members, and is expected to communicate professionally at all times with teens, parents, and other professional staff and lay leaders.

16. He/she should communicate all questions or areas of concern to his/her supervisor immediately, especially in areas where a teens health or emotional state may be in question.

17. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications: Bachelors degree, Experience working with teens, Significant Jewish educational background, Knowledge of Word, Excel, Social Media, and Photoshop
