Principal Responsibilities:

The Ann Arbor J is seeking a terrific leader to take the helm of Camp Raanana, the J's off-site, nature-based day camp. Camp Raanana has been a mainstay in the Ann Arbor Jewish community for over four decades, predating the J's founding in 1985.

The Director's primary role is to operate Camp Raanana. The Director is responsible for the hiring and training of staff, building a successful leadership team, recruitment and retention of campers, developing and executing camp programming, communicating with parents, working with the camp committee, and collaborating with other JCC staff to integrate Camp with the rest of the agency.

The Director also runs the J's Youth program, supervising KidZone After School and KidZone Vacation Days. KidZone afterschool is an aftercare program serving children from Hebrew Day School of Ann Arbor (housed in the J) and from local public schools, while KidZone vacation days provides youth programming when schools are closed.

The Director reports to and works closely with the Director of Child and Family Services, collaborating with other professionals on the Child and Family team. These professionals include the leaders and preschool teachers of the J's Early Childhood Center and the Family Programs Coordinator (who also runs PJ Library, PJ Our Way, and PJ Goes to Camp.)

The Ann Arbor J serves as the meeting place for Ann Arbor's Jewish community, playing a central role as a convener in the community. Major programs of the J include it's Early Childhood Center, with an enrollment of over 100 children; a vibrant cultural arts and education program that runs annual Film, Book, and Arts Festivals; growing offerings of wellness classes; older adult programming; and of course Camp Raanana and the Youth program. In addition to its own programs, the J also houses the Hebrew Day School of Ann Arbor, Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor, the Ann Arbor Reconstructionist Congregation, the Jewish Cultural Society of Ann Arbor, and the Washtenaw Jewish News.
