JCC Info:

The New Orleans JCC is looking for a fitness minded individual with customer service skills. We are looking for someone who can work mornings and mid-afternoon on the weekends. There may be additional hours durning the week as well!

Principal Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Be available to assist members when on duty and always be willing to serve members.
  2. Conduct yourself in a professional manner and represent the JCC in a positive light whether you are working your scheduled hours or just at the JCC on your own time.
  3. Become familiar with the members names as a tool to aid in customer service. If you cannot answer a question from a member, admit that and find a member of the H&PE Management Team to assist the member.
  4. Provide orientations for new members as scheduled.
  5. When not busy doing orientations or other duties, re-stack weights, straighten fitness equipment on both the fitness floor and in the circuit training room, and bring used towels from the spa and fitness floor to the laundry room.
  6. If either you or a JCC member determines that a piece of equipment is not operating properly or safely, notify OD immediately and restrict the use of that the piece of equipment.
  7. Complete the assigned cleaning duties during your shift. It will be the duty of the OD to review and approve your cleaning/maintenance duties with you before your shift ends. If an OD is not available to review/approve your cleaning and PM duties, it is still your responsibility to complete those tasks that you have been assigned.
  8. Periodically check the first aid kit in the laundry room to ensure that it is properly stocked. Please alert a member of the H&PE Management Team if more supplies need to be ordered.
  9. Continuously check televisions and music for appropriate volume levels and content.
  10. If someone on the fitness floor appears to be under the age of sixteen, ask them if they are Teen Fit members. They then need to display a Teen Fit card to be able to utilize the fitness floor. If they are not Teen Fit members, they should be asked to leave the fitness floor immediately.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Act and dress professionally. Report to on time for your scheduled shift and use the hand scanner to clock in, and ALWAYS wear your staff shirt and nametag. If you open the building, report to work at least fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled shift.
  2. Be responsible for finding replacements for any time needed off. If you need a substitution for your shift, you MUST let Brian know immediately. Please be sure to have an updated phone list and keep it with you. If you get sick, you must contact one of the members of the H&PE Management Team members immediately (talk to them, do not leave a voicemail)
  3. No personal phone calls or cell phone calls are to be taken during work hours.
  4. No watching television, or leaning on equipment .
  5. There should always be at least one person on the fitness floor. Coordinate your duties and breaks accordingly.
  6. No eating is allowed in the Fitness Center. You may take scheduled breaks in the Nosh downstairs. All breaks are 15 minutes. Tardiness is not acceptable.
  7. If periodic staff meetings are necessary, they will be announced to you and it is MANDATORY that you attend. Any individuals who cannot make the meetings must have their absences approved by Cherie or Brian and must schedule an appointment with them to go over what went on at the meeting.
  8. Document any problems, supplies needed, or situations that arise needing immediate attention to a member of the H&PE Management Team.
  9. If a member is performing an exercise improperly and you deem it to be unsafe (for either the member or the equipment), politely offer to show them a more effective way to perform the exercise. If the problem persists, alert the H&PE Management Team to the situation so that it might be resolved.
