The Riverdale Y is a 75,000 sq. ft. Jewish Community Center that supports the community at large through an array of social, educational, recreational, cultural, and wellness programming for children and adults of all ages. The Y features an early childhood center, summer day camps and after school programs, active senior center, a robust performing arts center, and health & wellness center that includes cardio and free weight studios, group exercise classes, full sized gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna and massage therapy.

Principal Responsibilities:

The Riverdale YM-YWHA, a non-profit Jewish Community Center located in the northwest Bronx, with an annual operating budget of approximately $6 million, seeks a Staff Accountant.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting work required to maintain the authority of the general ledger. Working under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Staff Accountant directs and coordinates daily activities to quickly and accurately record the revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities of the Riverdale Y; assist in preparing the annual financial statements; and coordinate the organization's annual audit.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree and 3 - 5 years of accounting experience. Non-profit experience is preferred. Proficiency in Excel is required. Experience with Blackbaud-Financial Edge a plus. The successful candidate will also possess solid organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
