Principal Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the General Manager and the Senior Manager on Duty, the Weekend Manager on Duty will oversee all operations in the building on weekends. The MOD needs to be versatile and knowledgeable in all departments. As acting Manager for all operating departments, they will be required to solve member and/or staff issues alike. This position is requires professionalism, quick-thinking problem solving, proper communication and relationships building skills.


  1. Manage and supervise all Sports & Wellness Department related programming at the Uptown JCC location during the Center's weekend hours. These programs include, but are not limited to, fitness, sports, aquatics, and membership.
  2. Ensure the overall cleanliness, safety, and security of the facility. This will include taking it upon yourself to help out with cleaning and/or laundry duties, empowering staff to make sure that all activities at the JCC are completed in the most safe and secure manner, mandating that all members be checked in at the fitness desk and non-members be turned away from member-only programming, mandating that all members adhere to all of the JCC's policies and procedures, and coordinating staff to make sure that all jobs are completed in a timely manner.
  3. Familiarize yourself with other programming taking place in the building each day.
  4. Direct coordination and day to day supervision of all fitness floor staff, fitness desk staff, personal trainers, lifeguards, referees, scorekeepers, and group exercise class instructors.
  5. Supervise operation of the Uptown JCC Fitness Center including opening or closing the facility.
  6. Act as first responder to all emergencies and incidents (medical or otherwise) when on duty.
  7. Develop ongoing relationships with members in order to provide excellent customer service and promote member engagement and retention.
  8. Act as part of the member orientation team, providing orientation services with all new members assigned to you during your shift.
  9. Work with the membership department staff to provide membership services, such as tours of the facility, and signing up new members in our system.
  10. Maintain current AED and CPR certifications.

Report to work on time for your scheduled shift, and ALWAYS wear your staff shirt and nametag. You are not allowed to wear jackets or sweatshirts over your staff shirt unless they are provided by the JCC.

All members of the Center staff are a part of a team whose goal is the delivery of the finest services the Center can provide to the Jewish community. To this end, all members of the staff are expected to contribute their expertise and skills in any areas in which they may be called upon. Staff is also expected to share their knowledge with others for the benefit of all.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to work weekends. Current AED and CPR certifications. Fitness Experience preferred.
