Principal Responsibilities:

Overview of the Role: Are you passionate about working with children in an engaging summer camp environment? Then you belong here! Under the direction of Assistant Camp Director, the Sports Specialist is an integral member of our specialist team and is responsible for creating engaging, educational experiences for each camp unit through sports activities. In this role, you will facilitate lessons for the head counselor, counselors and the campers in each unit. In addition, you will supervise behavior management of campers, liaise with parents about their childs camp experience and plan and implement programming for their camp unit both individually and collaboratively. What youll do: Essential Duties & Responsibilities  Create, plan, and implement curriculum based lesson plans for specific activity periods on a weekly basis  Support Head Counselors, Camp Counselors and Jr. Counselors in daily activity periods  Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers and make suggestions for improvement when necessary  Assist with general camp staff training  Complete weekly preparations with the specialist team for the All Camp Event on Fridays  Be a project lead for one All Camp Event  Assist with daily logistics of transporting campers from their regular camp day to extended care  Maintain public relations and open communication with day camp parents  Relate to campers in a positive manner, maintain camper supervision and discipline  Adhere to and maintain J-Camp policies and procedures and operate activities in a safe manner  Maintain and assist in the inventory and maintenance of all camp equipment and supplies  Fill in as a Head Counselor for breaks when needed  Attend required staff meetings and pre-camp training

Minimum Qualifications:

About you: Qualifications & Skills  Experience teaching sports to children or adults  Must be 21 years of age  2-3 years from a Junior College or University  2+ years of experience working with youth in a camp or other recreational setting  Ability to interact with all age levels  Certified in CPR for Children and Adults (or ability to obtain certification upon employment)  Ability to make sound independent judgment and decisions when circumstances arise  Strong interpersonal communication skills  Ability to work with tight deadlines  Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic about working with children  Available Monday-Friday from June 5  August 18 If interested and qualified, please send cover letter and resume as attachments to
