Principal Responsibilities:

Job Purpose:
Under supervision of the Early Childhood Director, the Early Childhood Camp Director/ Enrichment Class Coordinator is a full-time professional position responsible for planning, supervising, and executing all aspects of the JCC's early childhood summer camps, school year vacation mini camps, and enrichment classes.

General Job Responsibilities:

1) Create, implement, and oversee programming for Summer Camp (Lower Camp) and Mini Camps (during holiday). Functions include but are not limited to: oversee all systems and procedures of registration; monitor camper enrollment and establish groups, create rosters, running day-today operations of camp by ensuring safety of campers and staff; effectively communicating with parents on the phone, face- to face, and via email; assisting with carpool and oversee arrival and dismissal creating a schedule with a variety of activities; coordinating special guests, monitoring camp budget; and providing a camp leadership presence.

2) Recruit, hire, supervise, evaluate and train summer camp and mini-camp staff.Be a resource and role model for campers and staff on camp-related issues, instill an understanding of the camp as a larger part of the JCC, and contribute to developing good morale. Provide an atmosphere that instills good morale and well-being,

3) Play in integral with part in Nursery School running smoothly by assisting Director in day-today operations and any requested long term projects including administrative support. Filling in for teachers as needed, with meals, helping with carpool, nap, meals, transitions, etc... as requested by the Director

4) Manage afterschool enrichment classes. Functions include: maintain popular and seek new programs; hire/pay specialists and ensure they have the appropriate setup and materials, assist during programs; effectively communicate with parents; project and manage budgets

5) Maintain the high quality of all the JCC's Early Childhood offerings, provide excellent care and education for young children, and build strong collaborations with families and JCC membership.

5) Attend all nursery school staff meetings and other recommended JCC functions. Participate in and document at least 12 clock hours of continuing education a year plus 3 additional hours on health and safety issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in education or related field

2 + years significant leadership experience in camp/early childhood educational environment setting and in supervision of youth and staff

Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, multi-task, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans

Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) and build strong relationships with counselors, co-workers, parents, children, and lay leaders

Knowledge in Jewish programming is a plus

CPR/First Aid certifications required upon start

Positive, friendly, outgoing, approachable, and possess excellent customer service skills

Enthusiastic, adaptable, dependable,articulate, and strong work ethic

Team player with good character and integrity

Exhibit professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality

Able to accept guidance and supervision
