Principal Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY
The Development Manager reports to the Sr. Director of Development and has primary responsibility for overseeing a robust pipeline of donors for the annual fundraising efforts and special appeals, as well as other fundraising needs that arise. The Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and cultivating relationships with current and prospective donors, attempting to identify a moves management plan for each constituent group, based on level and individual interests. The development manager will work with the entire organization to ensure a donor-centric approach to development through an integrated model involving staff,
volunteers, systems, data management, emphasizing excellent internal and external communications.
The Development Manager will do prospect research and develop effective solicitation strategies, as well as steward donors throughout the giving process. The Development Manager will build their own portfolio of 80 - 100 individual donors capable of making annual gifts of $1,800 or more, in addition to recommending donors to other portfolios in the department as appropriate based on research and prospect discovery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a close and meaningful relationship with our organization
 Manage/qualify initial portfolio of 200 donors or prospects with a focus on annual giving
 Work with the rest of the development department to align efforts and set goals
 Create and implement moves management plans for prospects
 Cultivate and nurture donors through regular face-to-face solicitations and other communications
 Research potential prospects
 Steward and acknowledge donors
 Track and report progress using specific metrics
 Expand efforts to meet with prospective donors and provide guidance to staff, board, and other volunteers to assist in this process

Minimum Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

 Strong knowledge of Donor Code of Ethics and fundraising best practices
 3+ years progressive development experience, including portfolio management and successful solicitation and stewardship of gifts
 Demonstrated success in working with externally facing programs
 Ability to work independently and collaboratively across the organization
 Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
 Organized and detail oriented; ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and deadlines
 Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications
 Experience in donor management software is preferred and experience in Salesforce is a plus
 Bachelor's degree or higher
