Principal Responsibilities:

Berkshire Hills is seeking energetic, creative, responsible, and driven individuals to fill Unit Head positions for our 2018 summer season. Unit Heads are an integral part of our community. They oversee our four units of camp, with the goal of ensuring the health, safety, and happiness of our campers and staff. The Unit Heads are also responsible for helping our staff grow and develop in their roles so that they can see progress in their job performance. Essential job functions include but are not limited to:

* Act as a role model for both staff and campers

* Implement and assist in all staff training and development

* Maintain open communication with parents regarding parent/camp concerns, resolving issues in a timely manner

* Maintain supervision of staff and campers as to be aware of any issues which may arise

* Manage camper and staff issues in an appropriate and timely manner

* Implement appropriate behavior management techniques for both campers and staff, while also training staff to do the same

* Evaluate the performance of unit staff through informal/formal feedback and evaluation procedures

* Create, facilitate, and oversee unit evening programs

* Ensure unit cleanliness through daily bunk inspections

* Schedule staff time off

* Participation in night duty and meal duty (as assigned on a rotating basis)

* Exhibit our eight core values in daily interactions

* Attend meetings as required

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must have past camp experience or experience working in a similar field whether as an educator, social worker, etc. Unit Heads should have strong interpersonal skills, leadership and management experience, as well as the desire and ability to work with children and adults.

Unit Heads are expected to reside at camp in Copake, NY from June 27th to August 15th. Unit Heads are also expected to be at camp for orientation week beginning June 19th but considerations may be made for the right candidate. Attendance in some form is also required at all pre-camp meetings which include, but may not be limited to, two in the spring as well as a leadership weekend in June. Minimum age of candidates is 21.

Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp is a co-ed values-based Jewish sleepaway camp for children ages seven through sixteen. We are located in the foothills of the Berkshires in Copake, New York.
