Principal Responsibilities:

Overall Responsibilities:

This position reports directly to President / CEO.

An advanced management position represents the President / CEO in his/her absence or as delegated. Supervises multiple department heads. Coordinates and coalesce programs and services of the agency including responsibility for supervision of staff and staff teams assigned to major community programs. Works closely with President / CEO in creating an institution that achieves the objectives of the JCC as defined by its Board of Directors.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Program Supervision

Supervision of various JCC departments and programs to be identified based on talents.

Direct supervision for JCC Maccabi and the Amitim Program.

Responsible for the development and supervision of the Center for Jewish Life.

Supervision and Staff Training

Part of staff team that develops and coordinates all staff training programs including out of town conferences, delegations to JCCA Professional Conference, Israel seminars and in-house trainings. Support President / CEO with coordinating board trainings, delegations to Israel and the JCCA Biennial Conference. Work in conjunction with President / CEO in planning staff meetings and developing the senior management team.

Administration

Assist in budget preparation, presentation and fiscal procedures. Assist with funding source development (grant sources and develop proposals) related to Jewish Federation and Family Services, Orange County Jewish Foundation and outside agencies.

Committees and Professional Staff

Has direct responsibility for the Amitim program, and numerous ad hoc committees, including Annual Campaign, both intra-agency and inter-agency in scope. Provides support to professional staff under his/her supervision with their respective committee assignments.

Assist President / CEO with Leadership Development, Personnel, Fundraising, Budget and Finance Committees. Establishes and maintains community relationships and is sensitive to community and agency inter-relationships.

Community

Represent the agency with various community and special inter-agency projects. Under supervision of the CEO, manages global community partnerships with Kfar Yona, Israel.

The Assistant Executive Director is an exempt position covered by the Code of Personnel Practices for Professional Staff.

The Merage Jewish Community Center of Orange County is a 220,000 square-foot facility on 30 acres of land in beautiful Orange County, California. Orange County is home to some 100,000 Jews and sits between Los Angeles and San Diego and in between the Pacific Ocean and the San Bernardino Mountains
