Principal Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Events and Catering
  • o Event and catering sales, on and off site, meet with clients, promptly return emails/phone calls, process quotes, and follow up with clients.
    o Follow up with clients and potential customers to gain needed information.
    o Work closely with the Catering and Rentals Manager, Executive Chef, and program professionals to ensure successful event.
    o Attend weekly food service department meetings.

  • Supervise JCC kitchen activities; work with Catering and Rentals Manager, Executive Chef and Mashgiah.
  • o Maintain Kashruth at the JCC.
    o Create and approve work schedules.

  • Catering Orders; Utilize Caterease Software to manage all events
  • o Process catering orders and communicate requests to kitchen staff. Maintain delivery calendar
    o Manage online ordering system - Zuppler

  • Monthly Billing
  • o Collect and process payments for catering events.
    o Run event query and bill to appropriate agencies. Print invoices for the business department.

  • Responsible for Agencys food bills & allocations.
  • o Collect, process, create purchase orders and submit to Assistant Executive Director;
    o Enter food costs into spreadsheet and allocate food expenses out to appropriate departments;

  • Oversee Facility Rentals
  • o Applications, Scheduling, Contracts, etc.

  • In-house Program Facilitator
  • o Manage internal event scheduling
    o Organize JCC Programs
    o Organize JCC programs requiring food and/or meeting room space to ensure successful event
    o Oversee internal facility utilization calendar (JCC Master Calendar)
    o Responsible for food requests and oversight of details (date, numbers, set up, in house event submission)
    o Work with the Executive Chef and the kitchen staff to ensure timely food delivery and completed order
    o Work with maintenance and housekeeping staff, ensuring set up and tear down are accurate, timely and complete
    o Follow up with staff for feedback

  • Lifecare, Daycare, CJDS Programs
  • o With the Catering and Rentals Manager and Executive Chef, develop Lifecare and Daycare menus
    o Maintain accurate records; submit required reports for Lifecare and Daycare Programs to maintain eligibility
    o State Department of Education Food Program

  • J Cafe Express & JCC Outdoor Swimming Pool Snack Bar
  • o Hire, train, schedule, supervise and terminate staff
    o Budget
    o Order food and supplies, inventory

  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    Position Summary: Working with the Catering and Rentals Manager, Executive Chef, and JCC programming staff grow the JCC catering and rentals business through increased sales. Coordinate events occurring at the JCC while maintaining Kashruth. Manage events, the catering business software and the department budget.


    1. Knowledge and Education: High School Diploma / GED with three years experience or Associates Degree with two years of experience required. BA/BS preferred.

    2. Experience: Minimum Required or Preferred: Minimum 2 years experience in event planning and catering with at least 1 year in a supervisory role in the hospitality industry.

    3. Special Skills: Outstanding customer services skills, highly organized with ability to focus on details, strong communication skills, available nights and weekends, basic budgetary knowledge, and proficient with Microsoft Office software (knowledgeable in excel and word). Work well with others from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of Kashruth preferred. Familiar with catering software (Caterese, Zuppler) a plus. Food preparation training and experience preferred but not required.

    4. Physical Abilities: Able to stand for long periods.

Nearly 700 children and youth swam, played and learned at JCC summer camps this year. Children are making Jewish memories and friendships to last a lifetime.

    The JCC serves 13,000 freshly prepared Kosher lunches each year to our frail elderly adults and provides intellectually stimulating programming. For many, this is their only hot meal of the day.We take pride in improving the daily lives of all the people in our community.
