Principal Responsibilities:

Overview of the Role: Are you passionate about working with children in an engaging summer camp environment? Then you belong here! Under the direction of the Camp Director, the Special Focus Camp Coordinator is the key to the leadership component of our successful Special Focus Camp program for campers in Grades 1-8. The responsibilities of this position include working closely with Head Counselors and their teams as well as collaborating with camp vendors. When the special focus/sports specific activity is not in session, the Special Focus Camp Coordinator will work with camp staff to design and facilitate thematic activities that provide high-quality hands-on experiential learning in program areas such as counselor led activities, sports, art, music, dance, and Jewish Values. What youll do: Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  Assist with general camp staff training  Effectively supervise J-Camp staff to insure quality in the J-Camp programs  Supervise, support and evaluate head counselors  Monitor camp staff interaction with campers and assist with camper behavior management as needed  Work with Assistant Camp Director with all off-site camp activities and accompany camps off-site as needed  Coordinate with camp vendors  Maintain weekly J-camp expense limits and be responsible for petty cash  Maintain pre-planned day camp operating calendar and schedules  Maintain public relations and communications with day camp parents and assist them as needed  Assist in the daily transition of campers into extended care program  Assist in inventory and maintenance of camp supplies/equipment  Maintain camp procedures according to OFJCC policies and procedures  Maintain camper discipline and supervision at all times  Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff  Attend required staff meetings and pre-camp training

Minimum Qualifications:

About you: Qualifications & Skills:  Must be at least 25 years of age  BA/BS from an accredited college in a related field  Two years of experience creating and implementing programming for youth in a camp or educational setting  Two years of experience working with elementary/junior high school age children  Two years of supervisory experience  Ability to interact with all age levels  Certified in CPR for children and adults (or ability to obtain certification upon employment)  Ability to make sound independent decisions when circumstances arise  Strong interpersonal communication skills  Ability to work with tight deadlines  Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic about working with children  Available Monday-Friday from May 1-August 25 If interested and qualified, please send cover letter and resume as attachments to
