Principal Responsibilities:

Development Manager

Hours: 40 Hours per week

Supervisor: Chief Marketing and Development Officer (CMDO)

A primary function of this and every other job at the J is to ensure by whatever rational and legal means necessary that each member, guest and visitor leaves the J feeling just a little better than when they arrived.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Vision, mission, and strategies
  • Work with Chief Marketing and Development Officer and CEO to develop a shared vision for the future of the organization, build a sustainable fundraising stream to support the current mission, and develop appropriate policies, programs, goals and long-range strategies to advance the revenues and varied funding sources for the Center.
2. Actively engage with the CMDO in co-creating and implementing a comprehensive strategic development plan for the Tucson JCC.
  • Develop a systematic fundraising plan that includes both individual and institutional (business and foundation) targets.
  • Provide leadership oversight, guidance and support to current events and departments requiring sponsorship including, Tucson International Jewish Film Festival, Family Wellness Festival, Annual Campership Appeal, Sculpture Garden.
  • Working with CMDO and in partnership with the Jewish Community Foundation, create and implement a Planned Giving Program.
  • Participate in the development of departments strategic and operational business plans. Knowledgeable about fundraising trends and donor analysis.
  • Oversee development department budgets and resource allocation management.
  • Have final responsibility for employing, supervising, evaluating, and terminating departments staff.
  • Partner with and support the Leadership Team at the J.
3. Other Executive and Leadership functions
  • Provide guidance and support to CEO and key volunteers with key solicitations and donor cultivation.
  • Work with CEO and development staff on capital and endowment campaigns.
  • Prepare and present development updates to Board and provide fundraising training to the board.
  • Work with key Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona and Jewish Community Foundation staff on collaborative fundraising and funding initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to various board committees/task forces.
