Principal Responsibilities:

A primary function of this and every other job at the J is to ensure by whatever rational and legal means necessary that each member, guest and visitor leave the J feeling just a little better than when they arrived.

The Director of Member Relations must be flexible, a skilled communicator, experienced in marketing and selling to prospects, skilled in aggressive sales and marketing fundamentals, able to demonstrate good judgment, understand and work within a database environment. The Director of Member Relations will work closely with the lay leaders and meet with the Membership Task Force as needed. The Director of Member Relations will perform other duties as necessary.

This leadership position is designed to grow membership through recruitment and retention. The Director of Member Relations will plan, budget and implement all facets of the membership efforts.These shall include processing membership applications, campaign development and execution, coordination of the database records, liaison with committees and internal staff departments, building tours, special events, and assisting in designing membership promotions and campaigns in consultation with the Director of Marketing to attract the Jewish and general community.

Sales and Customer Service:

Supervise and participate in member outreach efforts through Shalom Tucson and other Jewish organizations

Building tours, member sales and renewals, and event participation and planning

Cultivate and expand corporate customer base

Coordinate and create promotions for new and returning members, tracking results

Grow membership through recruitment and retention programs

Solving every members problem whether approached or anticipated, and following up for satisfaction

Training staff to be liaison between departments for a seamless coordination for members

Managing Silver Sneakers and Optum Fitness Advantage programs, including billing, intake, contract negotiation, participation and revenue tracking

Living and training that we are always on stage, and only here because of our members

Work closely with all department heads.

Identify opportunities and lead the Js efforts to cross-sell throughout the agency.

 Ensure that program services, features and benefits support and enhance membership sales and service.

Help identify and recruit potential donors, corporate sponsors and lend assistance to the agencys philanthropy efforts.

Security and Database Management:

Responsible for membership database, including programming, training, setup and trouble-shooting for all member relations staff

Following up on Daxko Engage survey detractors, and distributing retention tasks to Floor Trainers and MRC staff

Responsible for security system, including programming to meet holiday and department and member needs

Financial and Project Management:

Creating and achieving membership budget, including forecasts throughout the budget year

Determining yearly price increases with prospective from Lay Leaders/Membership Task Force

Prepare billing monthly for renewals, help members with financial questions, collections, etc and training staff on same

Managing and training membership scholarship process

Keeping monthly and yearly membership statistics and creating plans to achieve goals for both sales and retention

Keeping members involved with creative membership types and renewal options:

Key staff member for JCC Association Benchmarking effort, including reporting, presentation, findings recap and creating action plans for improvement through managers and lay leaders

Supervisory and Management:

Manage Member Relations Center team personnel through Member Relations Supervisor

Responsible for a team of 8-10 member relations associates who are the face of the J

Recruit, hire and coach to build an effective team

Train staff in sales, database management, JCC policies and customer service

Work with all staff to train in customer service, membership sales, center and database knowledge

Member of the JCC Leadership team
