Principal Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities:
Overall program development, supervises operations
JCC Day Camp staff: Recruitment, retention, and supervision
JCC Day Camp committee development and management
Administrative budget and projections for all JCC day camps
Camper recruitment
Build relationships with all Stakeholders
Other assignments as outlined by Tamarack Camps

Principle Responsibilities:
Overall program development, supervises operations:
a.Create day camp programs which meet community needs and reflect world class benchmarks of quality and content
b.Align camp schedule in line with community schools (public and day) and in coordination with Tamarack Camps
c.Create comprehensive staff training which meets and exceeds the best standards of practice as defined by the American Camp Association and the State of Michigan
d. Oversee camp hiring process
e. Supervise all camp directors
f. Oversee camp transportation system
g. Identify facility needs: Create setup/breakdown procedures
h. Oversee camp database
i. Evaluate each camp program after summer to plan for following season
j. Develop risk management procedures in accordance with best practices as identified by the American Camp Association, State of Michigan, JFMD, and insurance providers

JCC Day Camp staff: Recruitment, retention, and supervision:
a. a.Hire top professionals to lead various JCC Day Camp programs and the centers special needs department, to include traditional camps, as well as specialty camps and clinics
b.Create/tweak specific job descriptions and actual job task lists for all JCC day camp staffing levels from counselor in training, junior counselor, counselor, specialist, unit head, etc., to director
c. Ongoing year-round weekly supervision of camp directors should include a consistent review of all aspects of programming, staffing, facility, and budget considerations
d. Full-time onsite JCC Day Camp management by walking around supervision during summer months

JCC Day Camp committee development and management:
a. Create meaningful standing committee representing constituents from Tamarack Camps, JCC Day Camps, and other stakeholders with the charge to help develop policies and procedures to address ongoing programming, operations, safety and health, staffing, risk management, fiscal and other issues which involve JCC Day Camps

Administrative budget and projections for all JCC day camps:
a. Coordinate all administrative needs for all summer day camps
b. Ensure that fees are properly aligned with local competition
c. Monitor ongoing enrollment and adjust program staffing accordingly
d. Oversee payroll
e. Oversee and evaluation statistics and metrics for all JCC Day Camp programs
f. Coordinate all administrative needs for all summer day camps

Camper recruitment:
a. Coordinate effective marketing of all JCC Day Camp programs
b. Develop specific online and printed brochures, promotional flyers, etc.
c. Oversee regular communication with parents, providing information about programs, meetings with parents and children whenever necessary
d. Build positive relationships with program participants, partners, and parents

Build relationships with all Stakeholders:
a. Establish and maintain outreach to clergy and establish positive partnerships in programming and recruitment initiatives
b. Incorporate best partnerships leveraging other JFMD constituent agencies

Tamarack Camps, established by the Fresh Air Society in 1902, is an independent community based agency affiliated with the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit (JFMD). Its mission statement: Tamarack Camps, established by the Fresh Air Society, builds a vibrant community by providing enriching Jewish camping experiences for children and families, respectful of financial ability.

The Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Metropolitan Detroit has asked Tamarack Camps to enter into a managed services agreement to oversee its day camp. The new Tamarack Camps management position known as the Managing Director of JCC Day Camps follows:
