Principal Responsibilities:

JCC Association seeks a proven, dynamic and growth-minded leader to become its Chief Development Officer. Expanding its fundraising efforts to secure resources to support program innovation and staff development throughout the JCC network is a priority of JCC Association's new leadership. The CDO will be the key player in the strategic review of JCC Association's fundraising department and will direct a development team in implementing all related fundraising activities. A significant focus will be on developing major donor relationships and implementing individual donor and foundation cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies. In this context, the CDO has day-to-day responsibility for leading JCC Association to engage a larger and broader audience, developing a portfolio of major donor accounts with capacity in the six-figure range and higher. The CDO will collaborate with and introduce individual donors and foundations to unique funding opportunities for both successful existing initiatives and new programs and projects under the auspices of JCC Association. Working in close partnership with the CEO and Board of Directors, the CDO will lead the organization to develop significant multi-year funding for programs and initiatives that are essential to JCC Association's mission.

Central to the success of these new approaches will be the CDO's active role in the fundraising process and support of senior JCC Association program leaders in developing opportunities and soliciting funders for key programs in their areas. Developing a vibrant culture of philanthropy across the organization and building the development team will be a primary responsibility of the CDO in implementing the development plan. As a member of the senior management team, the CDO will possess exceptional planning and management skills and must be a skillful staff leader, effective in recruiting, supervising and mentoring a top-level development staff.

The successful candidate will have significant fundraising experience (10 years), with demonstrated success in building capacity and increasing revenue, as well as experience developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, partners and colleagues. Additionally, the CDO should have excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to convey mission, core values and purpose of JCC Association clearly and persuasively.

The CDO will lead a multi-dimensional approach that will increase JCC Association's annual revenue and ensure that individual JCCs across North America are able to sustain and enhance excellence in programs and services provided to their individual participants and their local communities. This is a unique opportunity to play a leadership role in development, for an organization that represents the largest and broadest platform for North American Jewish life.


Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a talented, entrepreneurial advancement professional, preferably with a national reach and a strong conceptual understanding of JCC Association's mission and impact. For this critical role, the leadership seeks a seasoned development professional who is capable of clearly articulating the case for JCC Association and raising both private and institutional funds to further the organization's mission and values. The new Chief Development Officer must be a persuasive communicator and excellent team player and builder. S/he must have a clear and authentic commitment to the mission and strategic goals of JCC Association.
