Principal Responsibilities:

Member Services

  • Create a warm, safe and welcoming environment for all members, guests, and staff
  • Develop member relations/member interactions


  • Coordinate and supervise all internal and external sports clinic specialists
  • Work closely with the program assistant to ensure administrative and communications piece for all adult and youth sports programs are completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Lead and teach existing sports classes and programs for ages 4-teens
  • Develop new programs and classes for young children (4 - teens)
  • Direct service sports instruction for classes and birthday parties
  • Coach /supervise coaches for youth sports teams.This includes recruitment, training and supervision of parent volunteer coaches
  • Oversee gym rentals and coordinate gym schedule
  • Oversee all youth sports programming including after school, clinics, summer camps and 300 person youth basketball league
  • Develop vacation and summer sports camps and clinics
  • Organize in partnership with program assistant and supervise adult and teen leagues and drop-in play (i.e. basketball and volleyball).
  • Develop and oversee budget for all children and adult sports and recreation programming


  • Hire, train, supervise and support part time sports staff
  • Provide written evaluations at least annually for all staff
  • Assess and evaluate staff hours and work quality
  • Develop agenda, schedule and conduct staff meetings
  • Approval of all hours worked for payroll
  • Ensure staff have complete uniforms, keys, necessary supplies to perform their responsibilities effectively

Fiscal Management

  • Provides oversight in the preparation, development, implementation and monitoring of budget and financials related to sports programs
  • Develops and monitors measurable program objectives and evaluations and provides regular reports on progress and results
  • Provide monthly projections
  • Order all sports equipment as determined within the budget

Facility Management

  • Responsible for equipment maintenance and upkeep
  • Ensure equipment is clean and kept in good working order
  • Responsible for setting up and breaking down of sports equipment (i.e. hoops, volleyball nets/poles, goals, etc.) as needed during ones shift
  • Take initiative and anticipate needs of facility


  • Be familiar with programs and activities throughout Sports Center
  • Assist with the retention management efforts by direct communication with members (emails, phone calls, face to face conversations)
  • Keep current with market trends and issues affecting the sports industry to incorporate state of the art training
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other service and fitness agencies/organizations in the community
  • Attend supervisory, department and team meetings as required
  • Attend JCCA, HPE&R institutes and other seminars and conferences as required
  • Assist in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating site programs and special events
  • Willingness to perform other job duties, functions, responsibilities as needed, required or assigned
