Principal Responsibilities:

Summary of Duties: The Early Childhood Education Director is responsible for providing overall professional planning, leadership, supervision, and management, of every aspect of the Early Childhood Education program, ensuring that the program continues to be recognized as one of the top ECE programs in the area, maintaining the high level of quality and success in alignment with LFJCCs mission, values, and educational vision.

The ECE Director is a dynamic, hands-on leader who nurtures Nierman Preschool families and cultivates a strong sense of engagement among students, parents, and the greater LFJCC family while serving the educational, emotional, physical, social, recreational, and spiritual needs of the children and families. The ECE Director creates school-wide programs, oversees Shalom Baby/PJ Library (programs for families with children 0-8), is involved in community-wide activities representing the JCC, and functions as an integral member of the JCC senior management team.

While performing the duties of this job, the ECE Director must be able to move easily around the classrooms, playground, gymnasium, building, deck, swimming pool, and far field. Due to the nature of the job, it is necessary to be able to sit on early childhood equipment, including the floor and rug and to be able to regularly reach and bend; the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, keyboard; reach with hands and arms; communicate and move around the building. It may be necessary to be able to pick up a 45 pound child. Noise level, toys on the floor and clutter are normal to childcare environments. Some programs and responsibilities will occur in other parts of the campus or at off-site venues not owned or under the control of the LFJCC. The ECE Director will be regularly required to use office equipment.
