Principal Responsibilities:

Berkshire Hills is seeking an energetic, creative, responsible, and driven individual to be our Outdoor Adventure Director. This summer seasonal position oversees a range of camp activities which amount to an entire program area of camp. These include high and low ropes courses, climbing wall, zipline, archery, mountain biking, nature and pioneering, overnight camping, gardening, and animal care. The Outdoor Adventure Director is also responsible for helping our staff grow and develop in their roles so that they can see progress in their job performance. Essential job functions include but are not limited to:

* Act as a role model for both staff and campers

* Implement and assist in all staff training and development

* Lesson Planning

* Maintain supervision of staff and campers as to be aware of any issues which may arise

* Manage camper and staff issues in an appropriate and timely manner

* Implement appropriate behavior management techniques for both campers and staff, while also training staff to do the same

* Evaluate the performance of unit staff through informal/formal feedback and evaluation procedures

* Create, facilitate, and manage activities and programs

* Participation in night duty and meal duty (as assigned on a rotating basis)

* Exhibit our eight core values in daily interactions

* Attend meetings as required

Minimum Qualifications:

The qualified candidate must have past camp experience or experience working in a similar field such as an outdoor educator. Outdoor Adventure Director should have strong interpersonal skills, leadership and management experience, as well as the desire and ability to work with children and adults.

The Outdoor Adventure Director is expected to reside at camp in Copake, NY from June 27th to August 15th, and are also expected to be at camp for orientation weeks beginning June 12th but considerations may be made for the right candidate. Attendance in some form is also required at all pre-camp meetings which include, but may not be limited to, two in the spring as well as a leadership weekend in June. Minimum age of candidates is 21.
