Principal Responsibilities:

The Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center is seeking a FULL-TIME school bus driver to transport children for our Youth & Camp program. Preferred candidates have the personality and character traits to supervise and care for children of multiple ethnicity and cultural values, behavioral and physical handicaps. Competitive hourly wage range of $12.67-17.68/hr with full-time benefits (health, retirement, paid vacation & holidays, and fitness membership).
Essential Functions:
1. Transport passengers saftly to and from the JCC.
2. Checks operational safety of bus and provides minor service.
3. Write mileage and repair reports.
4. Enforces JCC policies in maintaining discipline on buses.
5. Help lift handicapped students in and out of buses.
6. Pick-up and return bus at start and end of camp season.
7. Turn in gas receipts at end of the day.
8. Follows camp policies and is supportive of camp policies.
9. Help with supervision of children.
10. Refers major questions of policy (including transportation) to Youth & Camp Director.
11. Maintains open communication about transportation with parents.
12. Provide provide exceptional customer service that is characterized by warm, friendly and helpful service to all children, staff, parents and guests.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
1. Personality and character traits suited to supervision and care of children of diverse cultures, behavioral and physical handicaps.
2. Exhibit characteristics of leadership, responsibility, patience, dependability, maturity, integrity, ability to work independently, and display a positive attitude.
3. Ability to resolve conflict and maintain discipline of children on board buses.
4. Sufficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate via two way radio during interpersonal contact, and in preparing written reports.
5. Ability to read and interpret maps, compass direction, 24-hour time clock, schedules, manifests and procedural instructions.
6. Ability to rapidly learn assigned routes and operation of equipment related to duties.
7. Knowledge of laws and regulations governing pupil transportation.
8. Previous experience working with children.
9. Must be able to use good, sound judgement and handle emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Current Class B Passenger License, School Bus Certificate , and Medical Certificate
2. CPR and First Aid certified.
