Principal Responsibilities:

JOB TITLE: Financial Resource Development (FRD) Director

DEPARTMENT: Youngstown Area Jewish Community Board  Endowments

SUPERVISOR: Executive Vice-President

JOB SUMMARY: An experienced relationship builder responsible for creating and implementing an overall agency-wide planned giving/fund development strategy designed to promote current and deferred major giving and to ensure the achievement of fundraising goals. A seasoned professional committed to excellent donor service, the FRD Director is a high-profile leader on the senior staff team working closely with key donors and lay leadership. All work responsibilities will integrate and demonstrate the core values of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation.


 Develop an annual fundraising plan to support the Federations strategic plan and program improvement objectives
 Support and partner with the Executive Vice President on major fundraising initiatives, including the annual campaign
 Monitor and report regularly to the Executive Vice-President on the progress of the development plan
 Utilize budgeted time of the JCC Community Development Manager in the development of new and in the coordination of existing grant funded projects and programs
 Oversee the preparation of statistical and narrative reports, and other documents as requested
 Work collaboratively with other agency department heads to identify and research potential new grant funded projects and programs
 Oversee administration of existing endowments, including the Thomases Family Endowment, to solicit, review and evaluate proposals from potential grantees, and to ensure fairness in the selection of potential award recipients
 Supervise and evaluate the work of staff supporting the Endowment department
 Responsible for a portfolio of key planned giving by donors and prospects, working with the organizations most senior lay leadership
 Collaborate with the Executive Vice President and an appointed board of advisors to identify prospects and steward current donors

Minimum Qualifications:


 Minimum five-eight years of experience with some combination of annual fundraising, planned giving and solicitation of major gifts
 Bachelors degree required. Masters level and/or legal degree in a related field will be considered
 Non-profit or private sector experience in a community foundation, in sales/marketing of financial instruments, and/or in planned charitable gifts. General knowledge of, or potential to learn about, provision of basic advice to high net worth individuals as it relates to donor philanthropy will be considered
 Knowledge of the Jewish community, its customs and practices preferred
 Knowledge of fundraising systems and experience in prospect identification
 Experience in revenue development, outreach and promotion
 Excellent donor-relations and verbal communication skills, in order to respond effectively and diplomatically with donors, volunteers, community leaders, and the general public.
 Competency using email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
 Ability to handle multiple tasks with proven organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
