Principal Responsibilities:

The Cafe Manager is responsible for building and leading a cafe team that shares a common passion to provide the best quality coffee, pastries, food and delightful experiences to all of the York JCC members.

General Responsibilities:

Staff Management

 Self-motivated leader that is responsible for hiring, training, retaining, and developing an outstanding team of baristas and team members.

 Coach, build and encourage the team members regularly by giving and receiving positive and constructive feedback.

 Maintains appropriate staffing levels to meet business needs and ensures all shifts are covered.

 Pro-active in solving customer problems and exceeding customer expectations.

 Recognizes team members for demonstrating desired behavior and performance.

Food and Beverage Management

 Ensures and is accountable for profitability of the cafe by growing sales and controlling costs of goods, inventory levels, labor, supplies and expenses.

 Manages and updates a dynamic menu that satisfies the needs of the JCC's members.

 Oversees the preparation, selling and serving of beverage and food items to customers.

 Ensure that all drink recipes and food preparation procedures are followed, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.

 Maintain a clean and well-organized caf?, satisfying all health and safety requirements

 Maintains Safe Serve credentials and ensures Caf? is in compliance.

 Manages effective ordering and inventory as well as hiring and scheduling to meet monthly budgets per store.

Cafe Marketing

 Creative in building a Caf? and taking initiative to leverage business opportunities.

 Responsible for Caf? marketing initiatives/events.

 Supports catering needs as needed.

 Other Duties as assigned.


Performance Expectations:

 Positively and actively, promote the JCC's mission, membership programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public. Serve as a role model for members and staff demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic.

 Be familiar with the mission and vision statements and Core Values of the York JCC. Model the core values while working and communicating with members and staff.

 Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines.

The JCC is a thriving non-profit community center that welcomes the diverse population of York County, regardless of religion, financial or ethnic background. Since 1910 the JCC's role has changed and expanded to reflect the current times. Our staff is committed to providing members and guests with high quality programs and customer service. Included in a membership is the use of the fitness center, over 100 group and water fitness classes each week, lap and family swims, open gym use, family art and gym activities, a relaxation center complete with whirlpool, sauna and steam room, and discounts on fitness, social, and enrichment classes and programs.

The Jewish Community Center was founded originally as the Young Men's and Young Women's Hebrew Association and eventually changed its name to the Jewish Community Center. Between 1910 and 1952, it moved to five different locations in York City. In October of 1989 the JCC moved to our current location on Hollywood Drive.
