Principal Responsibilities:

The Merage JCC Health & Recreation Department is seeking a qualified mature and dependable staff to serve as the head of our front-line staff/ambassadors for our daily fitness desk facility located within the Health and Recreation Department.

Interested candidates must, at minimal, truly enjoy working on a friendly and engaging face-to-face basis with Merage membership of all ages (youth through older adults) on a daily basis.

Specific job responsibilities include the following:

 This is an administrative role including the responsibility of supervising and managing all part-time desk and babysitting staff.

 Responsibilities include creation and upkeep of staff schedules, onboarding of new staff, continuing to train current staff, and working with fitness desk and babysitting staff to create a positive experience for JCC members.

 The Fitness Desk Coordinator will also act as the Administrative Assistant for Directors in the HPER department. They may be asked to complete administrative duties as needed for department events such as the Golf Tournament, JCC Maccabi, Wellness Events, Leagues, etc.

 Carry out and enforce daily duties of desk staff including but not limited to:

o Arrive for work professionally dressed and on time (per shift, 15 minutes prior to opening of facility or at shift change time)

o Welcome, smile and personally extend greetings to every member that checks-in at the fitness desk.

o Make certain that every member checks-in with their current membership badge, or has received a hand stamp from the main front desk (for those who've forgotten their current membership badge).

o Every person with a current membership badge (or stamp) MUST BE CHECKED IN via the desk computer to verify their active, current membership EVERY TIME THEY ARRIVE.

o Offer birthday wishes to those members checking in to work out on their birthday (will show up on the membership screen when checking the person in on the desk computer).

o Extend good-bye wishes (i.e. "hope you had a great work out, "have a great day", etc.) when members are walking past the fitness desk to exit the facility.

o Receive payments for personal services (i.e. personal training, Pilates, massage services, small groups, Kids Club childcare, etc.) and in-house athletic programs (i.e. youth basketball, youth enrichment classes, etc.) enter payments correctly into CSI computer system to ensure all participants are properly registered.

o Pull personal training vouchers for part-time training/Pilates staff to assist them with organizing their daily payroll forms.

o Put out cycling class sign-up sheets in advance of each cycling class.

o Put out bracelets for Tues/Thurs 8:30am RISE classes

o Answer all member phone calls in a professional and upbeat manner. Reply back to any member concerns in a timely manner (24 hours) whenever possible.

o Contact facility maintenance staff when needed or as directed by other Merage JCC Health and Recreation staff to assist with general maintenance items such as emptying the trash, replenishing the towel supply at the fitness desk, etc. and to notify them promptly should facility problems occur in the locker rooms, fitness center, gymnasium, exercise studios or other parts of the athletic facilities.

o Keep the general fitness desk area organized and free of clutter.

o Assist members with any HPER program related questions in an upbeat, positive manner. Obtain assistance from other staff as needed when unable to provide answers.

o Be actively engaged in "cross selling" the other key revenue components of the Merage JCC to members/guests- i.e. Pre-school, after-school, summer camps, obtaining sufficient program knowledge of these key program areas.

o Knowledge of JCC emergency, security and safety protocols (i.e. fire alarm evacuation, CPR, etc.). Calling 911 and alerting security personnel in emergency situations.

 Must have current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (on-site training provided as needed)

Typical hours are Sunday-Thursday. Must be able to work flexible hours.
