The JCC seeks a CEO who is an energetic, visionary, and passionate leader; a professional who possesses excellent strategic and management skills with a proven track record in fundraising and community building. The CEO will build on the successes of the past while enabling the JCC to enter a new era in meeting current and future opportunities. The CEO must be skilled at developing and leading a staff team as well as a cadre of devoted volunteer leaders.

About the JCC

For over 70 years, the Carole and Marcus Weinstein JCC has been the Richmond Jewish community's central address for meeting the social, recreational and cultural needs of the Jewish community. The Weinstein JCC operates on a $7.5 million annual budget, and owns a magnificent 105,000 sq. ft. facility that was renovated in 2004 and sits prominently on 10 acres of land on historic Monument Avenue, where it has been since 1959. In addition, a beautiful, wooded 110-acre off-site day camp is located in Goochland County, which was renovated in 2013. The Weinstein JCC currently enjoys 3,800 units of membership and is growing. The Weinstein JCC is financially sound, with committed lay leadership, talented staff and outstanding programming.

The mission of the Weinstein JCC is to strengthen Jewish identity and continuity by enriching personal, cultural, social and physical development, by fostering leadership and by promoting the welfare of the Jewish community and the community as a whole.

The Weinstein JCC is dedicated to the spiritual, cultural and ethical values of Judaism, and provides a haven for Jews and non-Jews alike to gather and foster fellowship among all people. It is dedicated to the well-being of people of all ages and faiths, and is inclusive of individuals, their families and the greater Richmond community.

The Weinstein JCC strives to maintain the highest standards of programming, and offers classes, services and events that are contemporary and effective, yet grounded in traditional Judaic values. This includes a thriving preschool with 14 classrooms, a 4,000 sq. ft. fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment and a full complement of group exercise classes, two indoor pools plus an outdoor pool at Camp Hilbert open to the community on summer weekends, Kids Place for creative after-school activities, a renowned cultural arts program including film, theater, music, dance and educational forums, and a robust series of programs for adults.

The Jewish community of Richmond numbers approximately 11,000. It is a connected, engaged and active community. Provides Exemplary Executive Leadership

The CEO will be a warm and engaging leader who is accessible and listens to all viewpoints, demonstrates confidence and a positive approach. The CEO must be a highly accomplished relationship builder, comfortable with all levels of constituencies from the most seasoned lay leaders to new young leadership, professional staff colleagues and those not yet engaged. A forward thinking, energetic individual, the CEO will promote a culture of innovation and be a change agent to create on-going excitement for the JCC in the community.

Presents Visionary and Strategic Leadership

The CEO will promote an all-encompassing and compelling vision that captures the energy of the JCC and represents the strategic planning and priorities that are already in place as well as carves out a path for a more robust, engaged and involved community going forward. The CEO will actively engage with other Jewish and general community organizations, working to support existing collaborative programs and to envision new ways to work together. The CEO must see the big picture - managing current issues while thinking long term.

Demonstrates Skill in Operational Management

The CEO provides leadership to all aspects of the JCC operations and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the JCC. This includes an understanding of the physical plant, technical support systems and running the various businesses of the JCC. Visibility and responsiveness to members is a strong value. The CEO will be decisive in action, adaptable and accountable.

Proven Ability in Fundraising and Resource Development

The CEO must engage and steward donors, and seek gifts of significance. Entrepreneurial and attuned to donor interests and concerns, the CEO will direct cutting edge practices in donor development to enhance and improve the communitys potential. Highly visible in the community, the CEO will reach out and cultivate new potential donors at all levels.

Displays Sound Staff Management Skills

The CEO will create a culture of positivity and productivity in the work environment, inspiring, engaging and empowering the professional staff of the JCC. Through selecting, developing and motivating staff, the CEO will foster innovation, teamwork and collaboration to ensure that best practices and cutting edge developments are the norm.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Minimum of a bachelors degree with 10+ years of strategic leadership and management experience in JCCs, Jewish communal organizations, business, and/or non-profit sectors. An advanced degree is preferred.
  2. A proven record of successfully building trusted relationships with a variety of constituencies and stakeholders.
  1. Understanding of, and successful experience in, all areas of fundraising and financial resource development. A willingness and desire to be personally involved with these efforts are required.
  2. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  3. High level of personal and professional integrity
  1. A successful track record of working with a board of directors and understanding the volunteer-professional partnership.
  2. Enthusiasm about the JCCs mission and the ability to inspire others to create a community dedicated to that mission.
