Principal Responsibilities:

The Jewish Community Alliance of Jacksonville (JCA) seeks a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) eager to lead and inspire members, donors, staff, volunteers and an engaged and involved community. As a consummate professional, the CEO should direct the JCA's future with integrity, manage with Jewish values, and guide its programs and services to enrich Jewish life.

The award-winning JCA maintains a leadership position as a Jewish community center of excellence as reported by JCC Association of North America. The agency serves 2,842 membership units and over 10,000 participants. With current revenues of $6.7 million, the CEO will manage future financial resource development for growth and impact.


The CEO is responsible to the board and officers for the management and successful implementation of the JCA's programs, and its financial well-being in keeping with the policies set forth by the board of directors. The CEO provides leadership to all aspects of JCA to ensure operational, programmatic and strategic goals and objectives are met.

A. Executive Leadership

Description: Project an executive presence. Possess a high level of emotional intelligence, including ability to develop excellent interpersonal relationships. Demonstrate adaptability. Appear poised and confident. Command attention and respect in groups. Use sound judgement. Project a sense of trust and dependability. Possess proficient verbal, written and non-verbal communications skills. Demonstrate active listening. Win support from others. Have a sense of humor.

B. Planning, Strategic Thinking, and Visioning

Description: Ability to manage current issues while thinking long term. Ability to develop a strategic vision, and articulate JCA's organizational values, competencies, mission and vision. Ability to ascertain general, Jewish community and JCA needs. Ability to identify key strategic opportunities and potential alliances and partnerships. Recognize the broad implications of issues.

C. Operational Management Skills

Description: Be decisive in action and holding oneself and others accountable. Understand the business model of JCA. Able to delegate and monitor. Take calculated risks, and spur a culture of innovation. Process information about marketing and branding, physical plant issues, and technology. Be adept in a budgeting process. Be responsive to membership.

D. Jewish Commitment

Description: Able to serve as a role model in the agency and community. Committed to personal growth and learning as a Jew. Foster development of programs and services that influence Jewish identity building, Jewish community building, Israels centrality in Jewish peoplehood, and appreciation of Jewish values. Commitment to enhancing Jewish life and learning. View the Jewish mission as a major priority.

E. Staff Management

Description: Ability to recruit excellent staff. Insure a program of successful staff onboarding. Ability to coach and provide feedback, and institute same in staff. Develop a system for ongoing evaluation. Empower staff through professional development, holding them accountable, and raising levels of expectation. Inspire and motivate staff by communicating often and clearly. Address individual staff issues early, and separate individuals from employment as needed and conforming to current norms.
