Principal Responsibilities:

The JCC of Greater Columbus' Gallery Players, Ohio's longest running community theater, seeks an innovative and highly-organized Theater Director. Gallery Players produces theater of the highest artistic expression, reflecting a Jewish perspective while exploring our common humanity. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with a committee of engaged lay leaders, setting a vision for the future of this arts program, and developing strategies to execute this vision. The Theater Director is responsible for artistic direction, budgeting, programming, production management and audience development, with the support of a team of a diverse array of JCC professionals. We are seeking a team-player who can coordinate JCC programming and productions as well as facilitation of rentals and community partnerships. Ideal candidates have knowledge and passion for Jewish theater, experience producing, directing, or teaching theater, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Experience with financial management, volunteer committees, and social media are essential. Serves as Producing Director of Gallery Players; responsible for artistic direction, budgeting, programming, marketing, production management and audience development.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Knowledge and Education - Minimum Required or Preferred: BA/BS in related field required; MFA
in directing or equivalent preferred.
2. Experience - Minimum Required or Preferred: Extensive knowledge of, and love for, Jewish
theatre. At least two years experience producing, directing and teaching theatre.
3. Special Skills: Experienced with department budget process and with not-for-profit committees,
boards and volunteers. Expertise in social media. Outstanding written and verbal communication
skills. Able to sit and stand for long periods of time and able to lift 20 pounds.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 Hire and supervise all theatre staff;
 Direct all JCC theatre activities;
 Organize and work with committees;
 Hire directors and secure rights for shows;
o Grant writing;
o Coordinate Patron of the Arts campaign with Fundraising Director;
o Identify and solicit corporate sponsors;
 Coordinate group sales
o Create opportunities for groups to access Gallery Players;
 Look for and secure rental opportunities;
 Coordinate use of the theatre as a space for other programs;
 Prepare, plan and monitor department budget;
 Coordinate auditions;
 Working with Marketing and Communications Department, promote productions;
 Create program opportunities around show themes, and
 All other duties as assigned.
