Principal Responsibilities:


The JCC East Bay is a welcoming home for people of all ages and life stages. Inspired by Jewish values, culture, and tradition, we build interpersonal relationships, foster learning and curiosity, and offer accessible pathways to Jewish life. The JCC's core programs include early childhood education and preschool; camp and afterschool programs; teen engagement; older adult activities; intergenerational Jewish holiday celebrations; and ongoing opportunities to connect with Jewish life and our richly diverse community. The JCC East Bay operates from four locations: our full-service building in Berkeley, an afterschool program at Joaquin Miller Elementary in Oakland, a brand new TK afterschool program at Hintil Ku Ca Preschool, and administrative offices on our soon to be flagship campus in Oakland.


The Kids' Club TK Afterschool Teacher will report directly to the Kids' Club Site Coordinator at either Jintil Kuu Ca or Joaquin Miller Elementary and will be instrumental in the success of the JCC East Bay's Afterschool Program at Hintil Kuu Ca and Joaquin Miller. Teachers must be able to create a positive educational climate where students can learn and grow. Teachers will be responsible for preparing and implementing several weekly developmentally appropriate classes based on their personal passions and skills. The Kids' Club TK Afterschool Teacher will work throughout the school year, from August until May, approximately 20-25 hours per week.

The salary range for this position is $24.00/hour - $27.00/hour. Benefits including medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick pay, and holidays (including Jewish).

Founded in 1978 as the Berkeley-Richmond JCC, we continue to evolve to meet the community's needs. Serving over 9,000 people each year, the JCC plays an important role as a communal gathering place, celebrating people of all ages, backgrounds, and types of observance.

Over the years, the JCC has absorbed and strengthened vital programs that originated at other local JCCs, including Oakland afterschool, Camp Tzofim, the JCC Maccabi Games(r), and ArtsFest. In 2006, we became the JCC East Bay to reflect our broad geographic reach in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The Berkeley branch, which is a historic landmark building, is home to an award-winning preschool, a vibrant afterschool program, and spaces for the entire community to come together. The JCC also offers large afterschool programs onsite at two Oakland public schools.
