JOB SUMMARY

The JCC Mid-Westchester (JCCMW) is seeking a Director, Enrichment and Inclusion, who will design, lead, and implement strategies and programs to support and empower youth with disabilities and their families through engaging and supportive activities.

Since 2004, JCCMW has run enrichment programs for children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities. Our strong track record has led to increased demand and an expansion of services over the years, Utilizing a foundation of compassion and respect, our programs provide meaningful opportunities to learn, socialize, have fun, and build community. This individual will build on an important legacy at the JCCMW and continue to foster an environment where every participant can thrive and build meaningful connections.

The Director, Enrichment and Inclusion, will work closely with The New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) to ensure our grant-funded programs are available and accessible to all. The Director will work closely with other program and operations directors to ensure innovative and quality programming and a seamless experience for our community members, volunteers, and staff.

The Director will lead all facets of supervision and management for our suite of enrichment and inclusion programs, with the goal of growing and deepening these programs to continue to meet community needs, bringing innovative ideas and a collaborative spirit to the organization. Importantly, this individual will recruit, onboard, and train teen volunteers who serve as 1:1 buddies for enrichment program participants, in order to learn and grow alongside one another.

Lastly, the Director will provide a successful, well-reputed suite of programs via a combination of teamwork, encouragement, compassion, respect, and presumption of ability. Programs will cultivate self-esteem, encourage creativity, support communication and other skills, and help kids develop friendships through a warm, nurturing atmosphere and small groups.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Enrichment and Inclusion Program Leadership and Vision

• Continue to provide the suite of programs offered by the JCCMW in enrichment and inclusion that has a strong legacy and reputation, including Sunday Funday, Circle of Friends, SibConnection, Tai Chi, and more.
• Create a strategy to deepen and grow the enrichment and inclusion portfolio in order to be responsive to community needs and interest. There is currently a robust set of programs that can be grown to serve additional individuals, as well as opportunities to pilot new activities.
• Foster a welcoming climate and seamless experience for all patrons, visitors, guests, students, staff through great communication, staff development, and leadership.

• Direct and supervise all enrichment and inclusion programming for youth, adults, and families. Specifically, this includes being present for a core program, Sunday Funday, for 35 Sundays throughout the year, and select evening Circle of Friends outings.
• Direct and implement a process to recruit, onboard, and train a cadre of teen volunteers who serve as buddies in the Sunday Funday program.
• Hire, train, and supervise program and consulting staff who teach and support enrichment and inclusion programs.
• Develop and/or source curricula and program content for enrichment and inclusion programs.

Enrichment and Inclusion Coordination

• Respond in a positive and timely manner to all member and community inquiries. Conduct intake for all program participants, families, and volunteers.
• Write emails, letters, and newsletters that communicate about the enrichment and inclusion programs. Prepare reports for management and funding agencies.
• Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives and take appropriate action to correct variances.
• Write and prepare grant applications and reports, including maintaining grant budgets and detailed reporting necessary for government agencies.
• Coordinate with the marketing team in the development and distribution of program information, via website, flyers, social media, email, and more.
• Organize and schedule program registrations.
• Conduct data entry and analysis. Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the program.
• Develop a comprehensive program calendar that incorporates small group needs, room availability, and staff/volunteers.

• Ensure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Monitor daily operations to adhere to all health and safety standards and policies. Ensure paperwork, from licenses to certifications, are all up-to-date. Manage and ensure completion of all required training for self and staff.

Other Key Responsibilities

• Assist in fundraising activities and special events.
• Develop and nurture mutually-beneficial partnerships with fellow community centers running similar programs.
• Participate in professional communities of practice.
• Utilize various systems, including CRM system for registration, payment, and tracking; room reservation system; google workspace, and the website.
• Other duties as assigned by the management team.

Minimum Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• MSW, Masters in Special Education, Masters in Developmental Psychology or similar discipline preferred. Knowledge/experience with OPWDD & Choices highly preferred.
• 7+ years of professional experience in a related field/fields. Knowledge of developmental disabilities for children/teens/adults. Familiarity with local community agencies who work special needs populations
• 3+ years of supervision experience.
• Communicates in a clear and sophisticated manner (verbal, written, presentation) commensurate with this key, cross-departmental role.
• Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to adapt to changing business landscapes.
• Familiarity and experience with behavior management, mediation, and deescalation techniques.
• Commitment to excellence and high standards; natural affinity to detail but with ability to balance perfection with common sense.
• Models relationship-building, professionalism and team-building skills in all interactions with staff and members of the community.
• Strong leadership, team building, project management, and delegation skills.
• Friendly, collegial, and professional approach to the workplace.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job include movement within an office environment. The role requires the ability to write by hand and use a keyboard to perform general office functions. Also requires the ability to communicate by speech and hearing continuously. Visual acuity is needed for detailed work, and computer use. The ability to sit for extended periods of time is also a requirement. Involved in activities where one must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers and children accurately, loudly, or quickly. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to move quickly and use physical intervention or de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors and ensure a safe and accessible environment.

SALARY

$64,000 - 65,000, 30 hours/week, hours negotiable (25-40 hours/week) given interest and capacity of the candidate.
