Principal Responsibilities:

Summary

The Healthy Aging Programs Manager is responsible for strengthening networks of support for older adults, both within and beyond the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center and Jewish Silicon Valley. The HAPM connects community members to relationships, programs, and institutions that support and enhance healthy aging. The HAPM develops programs and experiences that meet the wide range of needs and interests of people who are 60+. The HAPM collaborates across Jewish Silicon Valley departments and with outside partner agencies to provide opportunities for people to age with wisdom and grace: to be physically active, intellectually challenged and connected through friendship and through networks of care and support. The HAPM works with instructors, participants, JCC fitness members and community members to fulfill JSV's mission of harnessing the power of community, improving lives, building bridges of understanding and strengthening the Jewish people. The HAPM recruits and directs volunteers to support our work and handles administration of the department as needed. This position reports to the Jewish Life and Culture Director.

Areas of Responsibility

Program Planning, Development and Communication

Serve as a resource to older adult APJCC members and all older adults in the Jewish community as an active and engaged partner in supporting a proactive approach to healthy aging.

Develop, plan and oversee all Healthy Aging programs and experiences, soliciting regular input to meet the evolving needs of the 60+ community.

Ensure on-site support for all lectures and classes.

Actively contribute to the wellbeing of the Jewish Life and Culture Department.

Work collaboratively cross-organizationally to provide programs and experiences for people 60 years old and older, with a focus on building a community of friends, fostering a healthy lifestyle, exploring personal growth, advance planning and providing support around issues related to aging.

Enhancing the collaborative relationship with Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley's Doris and Rick David Center for Aging and Caregiver services and other partner and outside agencies to address the many facets of healthy aging.

Marketing

Develop and carry out marketing plans and strategy in coordination with the Marketing Director and Jewish Life and Culture Director to engage and support older adults.

Update community calendars as needed.

Build and coordinate collaborative initiatives with outside agencies.

Manage monthly e newsletter and other ongoing communications.

Administration

Hire and supervise any part-time staff, outside contractors, and teachers.

Manage contracts and other administrative paperwork as necessary

Coordinate use of space for on-site programs and use of technology for virtual programs.

Finance

Develop and oversee the annual departmental budget.

Track expenditures and payroll to ensure accuracy.

Develop grants in collaboration with the philanthropy department to support the Healthy Aging program.

Volunteer Engagement & Committees

Serve as professional staff liaison to the Healthy Aging committee to solicit feedback and recommendations for programs, practices and strategies that improve offerings. Develop and recruit new committee/task force members.

Work with the Jewish Life and Culture Director, and Healthy Aging committee chair to plan monthly committee meetings.

Provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for 60+ adults to support JSV programs and foster a sense of community among volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications and competencies:

A deep understanding of gerontology and the key attributes of the factors that support healthy aging.

Experience in providing programs and experiences that meet the needs of older adults. Proven ability to plan and implement programs, work well with people from all different walks of life and to partner with various agencies.

Highly motivated, detailed, and organized.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Proficient with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and related productivity applications.

Comfortable with Jewish concepts and traditions.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, co-workers, volunteers, members, donors and the general public.

While performing the duties of this job, the work environment can be noisy and you may be working in close proximity with others. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as phones, computers and printers.

This position is contingent upon the completion and cleared background check of a fingerprint and life scan assessment; and submission of eligibility to work in the United States.
