Principal Responsibilities:

The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches is hiring an additional Staff Accountant to join the Finance & Accounting team located in Boynton Beach, Florida. The Staff Accountant is an important member of the Finance team with responsibilities related to the agency-wide finance functions. The position is principally responsible for timely and accurately meeting the fiscal needs (revenue cycle accounting, receivables, development, month and year-end close activities, maintain program forecasts and work with program staff analyzing variances to budget, audits, and reporting). The position requires a team player working with various program, administrative and executive staff. The position may also be assigned other ad hoc projects within finance as required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Handle monthly and year-end financial accounting activities:

• Facilitate month end close process to ensure timeliness of monthly financial statements
• Ensure the integrity of financial results related to program revenues, deferred revenues, receivables, liabilities, and preparation of related standard journal entries and reconciliations
• Perform monthly analysis of Trial Balance/General Ledger and perform adjustments as needed
• Prepare, review, enter journal entries, analyze, and correct discrepancies to ensure accuracy and completeness of the GL
• Assist with income analysis and preparation of monthly financial/statistical reports
• Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivable balances to maximize cash flow
• Perform bank reconciliations
• Provide financial support for transactions, budgets and monthly reporting including variance reports
• Work with Controller and Department Leaders, responsible for updating/modifying and analyzing budgets and forecasts throughout the year.
• Maintain fixed asset database
• Assist in entering Development pledges and cash donations, analysis of contributions, grants, fundraising, and sponsorships
• Assist with preparation of Grant compliance reports
• Prepare materials for agency-wide audits and work with auditors
• Identify and develop ways to improve internal processes to be more efficient and effective
• Assist Controller and Executive staff in other ad hoc projects, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting - required
• 2 years of experience in an accountant role with reconciliation experience.
• Knowledge of MIP Fund 100 preferred.
• Not-for-profit experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including individual and group communication.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills, such as being tactful, mature and flexible, with an ability to get along with diverse personalities.

Salary:

$55,000 - $65,000
