Position Summary:
The COO will play a key role in the success of transforming the Weinstein JCC programs, services, and operational functions. Main responsibilities include the supervision of key Weinstein JCC programs, daily operations and membership, the facilities and ensuring that the building, systems, and grounds are safe and maintained to the highest standard. This individual will be a member of the senior leadership team and engage regularly with the Board of Directors, community professionals, lay leaders, the Weinstein JCC team, and national organizations. The COO will have responsibility for ensuring the Weinstein JCC is maximizing its approaches to earned revenue, expense management, business development, facility stewardship, and service delivery in a manner that will enhance our brand, help with financial viability and sustainability and mission fulfillment of the Weinstein JCC as a whole and in partnership with other senior team members for the Center. This role will require strategic thinking to ensure excellence and future growth and development.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
A. Vision, Mission, and Strategy
- Work with CEO and leadership team to develop a shared vision for the future of the organization, build a sustainable business model around the current mission, and develop appropriate policies, programs, goals, and long-range strategies to advance the revenues and funding sources within the departments of the Weinstein JCC.
- Work with the CEO to create a business plan for areas of operation with a priority on bottom line revenue opportunities, as well as new strategic initiatives.
- Establish a strong internal culture of service and relationship building that will enhance our brand and lead to better retention.
B. Oversight and Leadership
- Work directly with the CEO in the development of short and long range programmatic, and operational goals for the JCC in keeping with the mission of the agency.
- Assist leadership of the Center staff and initiatives to maximize our impact on the community.
- Create the most effective operations.
- Partner with and support senior management team.
- Provide guidance and expertise in the budgeting and planning process.
- Provide the Board with timely information on issues and trends and on the accomplishment of goals and objectives for the agency.
- Provide guidance and oversight to various board committees and task forces.
- Be available, present and responsive for building wide events and emergencies, including evenings and weekends.
- Ensure the organization is working across the matrix of programs in delivering our vision and mission.
- Act as a spokesperson for the Weinstein JCC and serve as a key liaison for the Weinstein JCC in the community and with other organizations.
- Collaborate across the community to establish strategic partnerships.
C. Operation and Program
- Work closely with the CEO in the development of short and long range programmatic, and operational goals for the JCC in keeping with the mission of the agency.
- Oversee and develop key program areas for the agency.
- Develop and implement efficient and effective operating policies and procedures.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate direct reports.
- Work closely with Senior Director of Programs for alignment, coordination and development of programs.
- Work with Senior Director of Program to lead annual program review and new program slate to include a comprehensive program calendar, pricing, target audience and how this translates to building value for our membership.
D. Membership and Customer Service
- Directly supervise and support the Director of Membership.
- Collaborate and oversee membership growth strategies, including recruitment and retention initiatives.
- Monitor membership data, trends, and engagement metrics to inform decision-making.
- Ensure a high-quality, welcoming, and inclusive membership experience
- Support development of membership programming aligned with community needs.
- Oversee and develop key programs for the agency.
- Develop and implement efficient and effective operating policies and procedures.
- Partner with and support senior management team.
E. Facilities/Maintenance & Security
- Oversee Facility Director and work closely on building maintenance, janitorial services, and repairs for both the facility on 5403 Monument Avenue, Camp Hilbert, and rental properties.
- Work with Facility Director on creation and management of the annual maintenance budget, preparing recommendations for capital and renovation expenditures, scheduling expenditures, coordinating projects with the Facility Director, CEO and vendors, and anticipating long-term needs.
- In partnership with the CEO, oversee building closures or modified hours of operation due to inclement weather or other unpredictable situations. Work with Facility Director for coordination.
- Work closely with the Operation Committee to determine and prioritize facility needs and facility operations.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure the safety and security of all staff, members, and guests.
- In collaboration with JCFR Security Liaison, coordinate on going staff training and education.
- Work with Facility Director to maintain proper working condition security and surveillance systems in both facilities.
- Share senior team responsibility for overall security strategies and emergency procedures.
- Develop strong and effective partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement.

- Must be a highly organized, self-directed, self-motivated, efficient, strategic problem solver and reliable team member with strong budget management skills and the highest personal integrity.
- Must be detail oriented and remain accurate, approachable, and collaborative with the pressures of deadlines, interruptions, and a variety of emergencies.
- Staff and financial management experience of a complex multi-disciplinary or broad focused operation.
- Knowledge of and ability to provide leadership and expertise in the areas service delivery, program/services creation, sales, business development, staff management, customer centric operations, collaborative initiatives, and fiscal management.
- Passion for and experience in the area of customer service, customer/member and staff relations and driving this into a consistent and exemplary culture of service.
- Strong interpersonal skills with people at all levels and in all settings relevant to the organization mission.
- Ability to relate to a highly diverse environment including the CEO, Board of Directors, staff, neighborhood and community leaders, and volunteers. Interact with stakeholders with grace and respect.
- Ability to move multiple operating departments in a strategic direction.

Salary Range: $122,000 - $132,000
