Principal Responsibilities:
- Prepare children for kindergarten by introducing concepts they will explore further in kindergarten and elementary school
- Work with children in groups or one on one, depending on the needs of children and the subject matter
- Plan and carry out a curriculum that targets different areas of child development, such as language, motor, and social skills
- Organize activities so children can learn about the world, explore interests, and develop talents
- Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime
- Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring problems to the attention of parents
- Keep records of the students' progress, routines, and interests, and keep parents informed about their child's development
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment for children
- Ensure that the classroom is aesthetically attractive so that students enjoy their surroundings while learning lessons
- Ensure development of positive relationships with children with a view to promoting self-esteem and self-discipline
- Observe each child to assess skills, interests, and needs and use this information to facilitate individual learning and growth
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hebrew speaker preferred
- 24 semester units of coursework in early childhood education or childhood development including Child/Human Growth and Development; Child Family, and Community or Child and Family Relations; and Programs/Curriculum and 16 General Education courses
- 12 units in chosen School-Age and core courses, which include supervised Field Experience
- Possession of a CDA credential may be used as 9 semester unit credits
OR
- Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Complete 3 semester units of supervised experience
- Hebrew speaker preferred
Salary:
$25,000 - $35,000
