Job Description

The Director of Engagement is a full-time staff position with the Kaiserman Jewish Community Center. Under the supervision of the CEO, the Director of Engagement oversees an innovative approach to traditional JCC membership, as well as critical external engagement efforts including our J on the Way program, and our JCC Maccabi Experience program.

Major Responsibilities Specific to Membership

  • Oversee the Community Catalyst initiative, a program which connects individuals, families, and older adults to the JCC and each other in the creation of new programming
  • Oversee community-wide events for the JCC, many associated with Jewish holidays

Major Responsibilities Specific to Community Catalyst

  • Develop and implement the "J on the Way" program for the JCC
  • Directly facilitate Jewish educational and engagement programming
  • Directly engage with Jewish families, connecting them to each other, programming that will inspire them, and the JCC
  • Develop partnerships to enhance the "J on the Way" program
  • Hire, and supervise, PT or contracted staff to facilitate the "J on the Way" program
  • Manage the "J on the Way" budget and other fiscal responsibilities
  • Coordinate marketing for the "J on the Way" program
  • Support with fundraising and grant reporting for the "J on the Way" program

Major Responsibilities Specific to Maccabi

  • Serving as the delegation primary contact with the Host Community and JCC Association
  • Recruit all games participants for the local delegation
  • Disseminate information received from the host community and JCC Association or developed by the games committee, to coaches, athletes, artists, chaperones, and parents
  • Act as the spokesperson for the delegation within the agency and in the community as a whole
  • Attend the spring delegation head meeting
  • Attend the games themselves (in August), and manage all issues that might come up between the delegation and the host community
  • Select, train and orient coaches and athletes
  • Ensure all athletes, artists, chaperones, and coaches required paperwork is fully completed and on-time in order to avoid late fee charges
  • This includes all athlete, artist, adult confirmation kits fully loaded in proper order into the JCCA system, coaches background checks, participant medical forms, etc., as well as the online confirmation of all participant roommate requests, required team and specialty info (tennis, swimming, dance), etc. as required by the registration system
  • Plan the annual department budget; manage and implement the approved budget and take appropriate action to correct variances

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • At least two year's experience working in the Jewish engagement or educational field
  • Experience working with families and teenagers
  • Ability to make oral presentations, direct and organize large program meetings
  • Demonstrate customer service and public relations skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Salary:

45,000 - 55,000
