Principal Responsibilities:
Position Summary
The Fitness Floor Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation of the fitness floor, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for members and guests. This position oversees fitness floor staffing, supervises Fitness Floor Associates, coordinates equipment maintenance and repairs, and delivers exceptional customer service. The Fitness Floor Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Executive Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Staff Supervision and Leadership
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate Fitness Floor Associates.
- Ensure adequate staffing coverage for all fitness floor operating hours.
- Conduct staff orientations, ongoing training, and performance coaching.
- Monitor employee compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Lead regular staff meetings and communicate department updates.
- Monitor fitness floor activities and address member concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure proper usage of fitness equipment and adherence to facility policies.
- Enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain equipment maintenance logs and service records.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules with vendors and service providers.
- Identify equipment issues and arrange repairs in a timely manner.
- Follow up on repair requests to ensure equipment is returned to service quickly and safely.
- Recommend equipment replacement and capital improvement needs as appropriate.
- Provide outstanding customer service to members, guests, and program participants.
- Address and resolve member inquiries, complaints, and concerns in a professional manner.
- Foster a positive and inclusive fitness environment that supports member engagement and retention.
- Assist members with general fitness floor orientation and equipment usage guidance.
- Track attendance, staffing coverage, and department performance metrics.
- Assist with departmental budgeting related to staffing, equipment maintenance, and operational needs.
- Complete reports and documentation as required by management.
- Support special events, wellness initiatives, and facility programs.
Fitness Floor Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fitness environment.
Equipment Maintenance and Repair Coordination
- Conduct routine inspections of fitness equipment and facilities.
Customer Service
Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain staffing schedules.
- Track attendance, staffing coverage, and department performance metrics.
- Assist with departmental budgeting related to staffing, equipment maintenance, and operational needs.
- Complete reports and documentation as required by management.
- Support special events, wellness initiatives, and facility programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Recreation, Sports Management, Health Promotion, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of fitness facility, health club, or recreation center experience.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of fitness equipment operation, maintenance, and safety standards.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with scheduling software and basic computer applications.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Ability to demonstrate proper use of fitness equipment.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.

Salary:
$25,000 - $35,000
