Principal Responsibilities:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director of Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) is a full time, salaried exempt position, responsible for developing and implementing the mission of the program.This includes fostering key relationships, serving as an educational resource, coordinating programs to address and educate about antisemitism and Jew hatred, and ensure we are monitoring, tracking, and reporting incidents in our local community.

Program Director level positions at Jewish for Good are members of the Professional Staff and are the face of their program area, overseeing the operations of that area.

This position reports to the CEO.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Foster Government and Community Relations (40%)

• Create and maintain lasting relationships to ensure open lines of communication and robust alliances with local civic, religious, academic and political leaders.Skillfully champion issues impacting the local Jewish community
• Engage Jewish organizations and community members through civic advocacy
• Collaborate with other JCRCs in NC and the NC Statewide Coalition in working on legislative issues, North Carolina Day of Advocacy, and other opportunities that protect and secure the Jewish community
• Stay informed of current climate of antisemitism and Jew hatred locally and nationally
• Utilize national best practices to create and disseminate educational materials, toolkits, and resources
• Serve as resource, contact, and advocate for individuals encountering antisemitic instances and respond to community inquiries as they arise

Serve as Educational Resource (30%)

Coordinate Programs (20%)

Work in partnership with other local Jewish and secular organizations to develop and organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions for various constituent groups (schools, civic leaders, etc) to proactively address, raise awareness of, and equip individuals with strategies to address antisemitism and Jew hatred

Oversee JCRC Operations (10%)

• Track incidents of antisemitism locally
• Work in partnership with national organizations to report incidents
• Engage and manage standing committee members to aid in fulfilling mission
• Oversee annual program budget

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• 5+ years' experience in community/public relations, education/advocacy, and/or Jewish programming
• Demonstrated:
  • knowledge of the history and present-day antisemitism and Jew hatred globally and how it relates to and impacts local community
  • commitment to Israel, Jewish heritage and culture, and an ability to communicate with sophistication and nuance on these issues
  • outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to navigate complicated situations with diplomacy, tact and equanimity.
  • ability to work comfortably in an environment with tight timelines and deadlines
  • ability to manage multiple initiatives with focus and excellence
  • ability to develop relationships across interests and backgrounds to establish allies in support of the JCRC's mission
  • excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Salary:

$65,000 - $75,000
