Principal Responsibilities:

Title: Youth Program Coordinator

Reports to: Early Childhood Education Director
Schedule: Monday-Friday 2:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. (open to more hours as need arises)

An exciting opportunity awaits as a Part-time Youth Program Coordinator at the Binghamton JCC! The Youth Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in nurturing the development, education, and well-being of our energetic and curious children ages 5-12. We are seeking a dedicated, creative, and compassionate individual to lead programs that inspire growth, engagement, and a lifelong love of learning in a safe and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will oversee the Kids Connection School Age program which operates Monday - Friday from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on school holidays, snow day closures, and half days (following Vestal Central School District's calendar). If interested in working during the summer, this position could include working 6 weeks as a camp counselor and 2 weeks organizing a specialty camp program under the auspices of Camp JCC a subsidiary of the JCC*.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development & Coordination

• Plan and oversee programs, including after-school care, vacation day activities, youth and preschool specialty classes, and two-week specialty camps.
• Assist with community holiday celebrations.
• Ensure adherence to Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations.
• Organize and maintain program documentation, including rosters, enrollment, and permission forms.
• Provide programming details to the Marketing Director.
• Order and manage supplies within the budget.

Staff Management

• Prepare and update job descriptions, agreements, and staff payroll.
• Interview, hire, train, and onboard staff, ensuring all personnel files and references are completed.
• Supervise after-school program staff, specialty camp counselors, and youth class instructors.
• Maintain up-to-date staff training and ensure proper documentation of staff and student records.

Collaboration & Support

• Work collaboratively with JCC staff on integrated programs.
• Provide support to the Early Childhood Center as needed.

Community Engagement

• Counsel and engage with youth.
• Serve as a resource for parents and JCC members, fostering positive relationships.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree AND two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field
• Familiarity with NYS Office of Children and Family Services daycare licensing regulations
• Creativity and enthusiasm for planning and executing dynamic activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Valid driver's license, CPR/First Aid/AED (or willing to achieve certifications)

Since its inception in 1927, the Jewish Community Center of Binghamton, NY (JCC) has grown and evolved to become an essential part of the Broome County community as a full-service, not-for-profit, organization. The JCC is dedicated to providing educational, cultural, recreational, and physical fitness programs to enhance the quality of life for everyone from infants to senior citizens. Located by Binghamton University in Vestal, NY, the JCC is housed in a 60,000 square foot facility which houses a natatorium with a 2250 square foot pool, full gymnasium, a small fitness center with men's and women's health club with steam, sauna and massage rooms, a fitness loft with Johnny - G Spinning bikes and Pilates Reformers, full stage and auditorium, meeting rooms, a preschool facility with 12 classrooms and 3 infant rooms, 5 rooms which encompass the Kids Connection After School Care program and 4 classrooms that house Universal Pre-Kindergarten programs for the Vestal and Binghamton school districts.

In addition, we have 8 acres of land including outdoor tennis/Pickleball and basketball courts, a pavilion, a nature preserve, a soccer and camping field, and 3 state-of-the-art age-appropriate playground facilities.

The JCC's Early Childhood Center and youth department serves over 300 children in daycare programs and over 200 children in summer day camp each year and our Phys Ed department offers programs in everything from youth and adult basketball recreation leagues and camps, a pickleball league, fitness classes and more.
