RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Special Services, the Director will develop, provide oversight and implementation of after-school respite, evening and weekend recreational opportunities, weekend and evening special interest clubs and summer camp services for individuals with disabilities.
Promote opportunities that utilize a philosophy that promotes person-centered planning, socialization, daily living skills and skill development towards independence.
Provide support and direction to staff in the oversight and management of the program participants in after-school, recreation activities, and special interest groups. In summer months, responsibilities include director of a summer camp program.
Provide individual and family support on an as-needed basis, often focusing on the needs, challenges, and concerns of raising a child with special needs.
Advocate on behalf of the child and family in collaboration with school and community resources.
Responsible for recruitment, hiring, and appropriate onboarding of program staff.
Supervision of program staff in their job responsibilities.
Facilitate staff trainings and professional development workshops for staff.
Provide administrative oversight to ensure appropriate documents are updated in participant files, ensure lessons plans and treatment plans are individualized for each participant, maintenance of staff and program participation attendance records, and billing records relevant to funding sources.
Conduct intakes for all programs in order to assess the individualized needs of each child and family to determine the best programmatic fit.
Ensure that all programs and activities conform to all funder and government guidelines.Continually assess areas for program growth and expansion.
Masters in Social work or BA in a related field from an accredited college/university
A minimum of 5 years' experience working with individuals with disabilities, including programming in an after school environment
A minimum of 2-3 years' experience supervising staff
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize daily workload
Demonstrate cultural competency through familiarity in working with people from a very diverse number of backgrounds
Must have excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
Experience with OPWDD & DOH regulations preferred
Ability to utilize computer based programs to track data

Schedule: This is a Full-Time position with an expected schedule of Monday through Friday 10am-7pm, and may also include occasional weekend/evening hours.
