Principal Responsibilities:

The Specialist is a dedicated, creative, and well-organized person who designs and leads engaging programming within their area of expertise. Specialists are responsible for creating age-appropriate lesson plans and delivering high quality experiences for campers ages 5-15.

Specialists work closely with Unit Heads and the Program Director to ensure activities are developmentally appropriate, safe, and aligned with Camp Kef's values of Kindness, Community, Curiosity, and Spirit.

Minimum Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead weekly programming in your specialty area for a variety of age groups
  • Develop structured, engaging lesson plans that are age-appropriate and inclusive
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe activity space at all times
  • Collaborate with Unit Heads, Counselors, and camp leadership to create a positive and supportive environment
  • Actively participate in special event days and all-camp programming (program areas may be assigned to you on these days and may be outside your specialty area)
  • Assist with activity planning, preparation, and facilitation as needed
  • Identify and appropriately respond to camper behavior, partnering with Counselors and Unit Leaders when necessary
  • Plan and facilitate elective activities for older campers 2-3 days per week
  • Demonstrate flexibility and step in to support the broader camp community when needed

*We can be flexible on the days of the week and number of hours works for each position.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 21 years old
  • Experience working with children in a camp, school, coaching, or youth program setting preferred
  • Demonstrated experience, training, or strong interest in your specialty area
  • Strong communication and classroom/group management skills
  • Energetic, positive, and dependable team player
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced camp environment
  • Ability to attend and participate in staff orientation
  • Must be able to obtain background clearances, FBI fingerprinting, and child abuse clearances

Salary and hours:

$15 - $17/Hr

Work hours: 8:15am - 4:15pm 2 - 5 days a week depending on position

Program area descriptions:

The Art Specialist at Camp Kef is a creative, organized, and enthusiastic staff member responsible for planning and leading engaging visual art activities for campers in grades K-8th. This role designs and facilitates age-appropriate lessons that encourage creativity, self-expression, and skill-building. The Art Specialist works closely with the Program Director and camp leadership to ensure programming is developmentally appropriate and aligned with Camp Kef's goals. They maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming art space while supervising campers and supporting positive behavior. The Art Specialist also actively participates in the broader camp community and special events. This position is 8 hours per day for 3-5 days a week.

The STEM Specialist at Camp Kef is a creative, organized, and enthusiastic staff member responsible for planning and leading hands-on STEM activities for campers in grades K-8th. This role designs and facilitates age-appropriate lessons that encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and teamwork through science, technology, engineering, and math. The STEM Specialist works closely with the program director and camp leadership to ensure programming is developmentally appropriate and aligned with Camp Kef's goals. They maintain a safe, organized learning environment while supervising campers and supporting positive behavior. This position works 2-3 days per week and participates in special events and the broader camp community as scheduled.

The Theater/Improv/Performance Specialist at Camp Kef is an energetic, creative, and organized staff member responsible for leading engaging performance-based activities for campers in grades K-8th. This role designs and facilitates age-appropriate theater, improvisation, and performance lessons that build confidence, collaboration, and self-expression. The Specialist works closely with the program director and camp leadership to ensure programming is developmentally appropriate and aligned with Camp Kef's goals. They maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment while supervising campers and encouraging positive participation. This position works 1-3 days per week and participates in special events and all camp programs as needed.

The Sports Specialist at Camp Kef is an energetic, organized, and team-oriented staff member responsible for planning and leading engaging sports and physical activity programming for campers in grades K-8th. This role designs and facilitates age-appropriate activities that promote teamwork, skill development, sportsmanship, and fun. The Sports Specialist reports to the Program Director and works closely with Unit Heads and camp leadership to ensure programming is developmentally appropriate and aligned with Camp Kef's goals. They maintain a safe and structured environment while supervising campers and supporting positive behavior. This position works 3-5 days per week and participates in special events and the broader camp community as scheduled.

The Cooking Specialist at Camp Kef is a creative, organized, and safety-minded staff member responsible for leading hands-on cooking activities for campers in grades K-8th. This role designs and facilitates age-appropriate lessons that build basic cooking skills, teamwork, and confidence while introducing food education and creativity. The Cooking Specialist works closely with the program director and camp leadership to ensure programming is developmentally appropriate and aligned with Camp Kef's goals. They maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen or cooking space while supervising campers and supporting positive behavior. This position works 2-3 days per week.

The Jewish Education Specialist at Camp Kef is a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and organized staff member responsible for leading engaging Jewish learning experiences for campers in grades K-8th. This role designs and facilitates age-appropriate lessons and activities that foster connection to Jewish traditions, values, and culture while encouraging curiosity and discussion. The Specialist works closely with Unit Heads and camp leadership to ensure programming is developmentally appropriate and aligned with Camp Kef's educational goals. They maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment while supervising campers and supporting positive behavior. This position works according to the camp schedule and participates in special events and the broader camp community as scheduled.

The MakerSpace Specialist at Camp Kef is a creative, skilled, and safety-conscious staff member responsible for leading hands-on woodworking and 3D printing activities for campers in grades 4-8. This role designs and facilitates age-appropriate projects that teach basic woodworking skills, tool safety, and problem-solving while encouraging creativity and craftsmanship. The Specialist works closely with the program director and camp leadership to ensure programming is developmentally appropriate and aligned with Camp Kef's goals. They maintain a clean, organized, and safe space while supervising campers and supporting positive behavior. This position works according to the camp schedule and participates in special events and the broader camp community as scheduled.

The Mini Maker Space Specialist at Camp Kef is a creative, energetic, and hands-on staff member responsible for leading exploratory maker activities for campers ages 3-6. This role designs and facilitates age-appropriate projects that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity through building, crafting, and primarily using our ChopSaw tools. The Specialist works closely with the program director and camp leadership to ensure programming is developmentally appropriate and aligned with Camp Kef's goals. They maintain a safe, organized, and engaging maker space while supervising campers and supporting positive behavior. This position works according to the camp schedule and participates in special events and the broader camp community as scheduled.

Salary:

$25,000 - $35,000
