Principal Responsibilities:
JCC Brooklyn is seeking an experienced and dedicated Early Childhood Site Director to oversee the daily operations of our nursery/preschool program (3 classrooms). The Site Director will provide strong leadership to teaching staff, support a warm and nurturing environment for children and families, and ensure the program operates in compliance with all applicable licensing, health, safety, and organizational standards.
The ideal candidate is a professional early childhood leader with strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, children, and families. Familiarity with Jewish culture, traditions, holidays, and community values is strongly preferred. Hebrew language skills are also strongly preferred, as many families in our program communicate in Hebrew.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursery/preschool site.
- Supervise, support, and guide teachers and classroom staff.
- Ensure classrooms maintain a safe, warm, developmentally appropriate, and engaging environment.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and families.
- Support enrollment, family engagement, school events, and program communication.
- Ensure compliance with DOH, licensing, safety, and organizational requirements.
- Assist with staff scheduling, coverage, attendance, and performance matters.
- Partner with leadership to maintain high program quality and address concerns as they arise.
- Support Jewish holiday programming, cultural activities, and community-building initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all staff and family matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field approved by the Department required.
- Valid NYS Teaching Certificate required, Initial or Professional accepted.
- Minimum of 2 years of documented experience as a group teacher in an early childhood setting required.
- Prior leadership experience in an early childhood, nursery, preschool, or childcare setting required.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and classroom operations.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to supervise staff, manage parent communication, and resolve issues professionally.
- Familiarity with Jewish culture, traditions, holidays, and community values strongly preferred.
- Hebrew language skills strongly preferred, based on the communication needs of families served by the program.
- Must meet all applicable licensing and regulatory requirements for the position.

Schedule:
- Full-time, in-person position. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Occasional flexibility may be needed to support program operations and responsibilities.

Salary:
- $80,000 - $100,000 commensurate with experience
