Principal Responsibilities:

We are a nonprofit organization on the south shore of Long Island seeking an experienced Controller to manage the accounting department. This position will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, and managing all financial-related activities within our organization. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, a record of successful financial management, an understanding of back-office operations, and the ability to build trusting relationships with staff, volunteers, and philanthropic supporters.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

• Experience in financial forecasting.
• Knowledge of internal controls, cash management, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and cash flow projections.
• Ability to coordinate and direct budgeting and financial planning.
• Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance.
• Responsible for developing and managing departmental and agency budgets with the CEO and other Department Heads.
• Distribute departmental financial reports internally and work with department personnel to analyze variances.
• Prepare presentation materials for Audit Committees and Board.
• Board-level experience (volunteer or other) interacting with lay leadership.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate and manage at all levels of the organization.
• Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgment.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills in a not-for-profit and/or for-profit environment.
• Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance.

Salary:

$120,000 - $135,000
