The Camp, Youth, and Family Coordinator will be an integral part of the Katie and Irwin Kahn JCC programming team. The primary responsibilities for this role include planning and executing summer day camp, school break camps, and "day off" single day camps. Additionally, this position will bring creativity and energy to creating family and youth programs throughout the year. This is a manager level, exempt position and is not eligible for overtime. This position reports directly to the Director of Culture and Development.
Specific Responsibilities:
Assume the leadership position of all camps that occur at the Kahn JCC
Be a visionary and creative partner to plan, execute, and grow our current camp model, and bring that same energy to developing other programming at the JCC
Recruit, interview, hire, and train camp staff
Manage budget, purchasing, and inventory of camp supplies
Work with 3rd party camp registration company to open and collect registration information
Promote a positive camp environment for staff and campers
Manage advertising, marketing, and promoting camp, in consultation with the Marketing Director as well as manage camp and program related communications between all stakeholders
Troubleshoot operational issues, resolve conflicts, and be on-site during all camp hours to lead and support camp team.
Plan and implement family and youth programs throughout the school year to engage members and non-members through varied types of activities.
Work collaboratively and creatively on resource development like grants and fundraising to grow and enhance the camp, youth, and family programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree. A degree in education, recreation or another related field is highly desirable.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Experience with program management and implementation
Strong critical and creative thinking skills as well as strong problem solving ability
Ability to hire, train, and supervise staff
Mature disposition, creative, outgoing and energetic personality, with a desire to be an active team player.
Highly organized, attentive to detail and able to work independently, a self-starter
Comfortable learning new information systems
Experience in youth and camp programs as a staff member
Ability to work evenings and weekends, and overnights as needed
Knowledge and understanding of issues of youth growth and development
Knowledge of Jewish Holidays and customs and a background in informal Jewish education is a plus.
Sense of humor and serious interest in creating joyful and enriching experiences for youth.
