Principal Responsibilities:
Position Summary
The Early Childhood Instruction and Curriculum Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum and instructional practices for early childhood programs. This role ensures that teaching and learning align with best practices in early childhood education, developmentally appropriate standards, and the organization's mission and values. The specialist collaborates with teachers, provides professional development, and monitors classroom practices to enhance the quality of instruction and learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Implementation
- Design, review, and implement curriculum aligned with early learning standards, program goals, and best practices.
- Ensure curriculum reflects a balance of social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and creative development.
- Adapt curriculum to meet the diverse needs of children, including children with special needs and English language learners.
Instructional Support and Coaching
- Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback and coaching to teachers.
- Model effective teaching practices and co-teach as needed to support staff in implementing curriculum.
- Facilitate professional learning communities or team meetings to share strategies and discuss challenges.
Professional Development
- Plan and lead training sessions, workshops, and in-service professional development opportunities for early childhood educators.
- Stay current with research-based practices and emerging trends in early childhood education.
- Mentor new teachers and support ongoing growth and development of all staff.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Support teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate assessment tools and tracking child progress.
- Analyze program-wide assessment data to inform instruction and curriculum decisions.
- Recommend strategies and interventions to support individual and group learning needs.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with program leadership to ensure curriculum goals align with program vision and state licensing or accreditation requirements.
- Partner with families, sharing curriculum plans and providing resources to support learning at home.
- Serve as a resource for teachers regarding child development, classroom management, and instructional techniques.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- At least [3-5] years of classroom experience in early childhood settings.
- Strong understanding of early childhood curriculum frameworks (e.g., Creative Curriculum, Reggio Emilia, HighScope, etc.).
- Knowledge of child development principles, assessment tools, and teaching strategies.
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, and facilitation skills.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.

Salary:
$35,000 - $45,000
