One of the highlights of the Sunrise Association's annual events are our Walkathons, known as SunriseWALKS! SunriseWALKS! is an event where every donor, no matter how big or how small, can participate in enhancing the lives of children with cancer. SunriseWALKS! take place around the country from New York to Baltimore to Atlanta to Chicago. The individual who assumes this position would at first be responsible primarily for the Long Island and Rockland County walks, while providing oversight and guidance throughout the entire system. Over time, the position would shift to a more national presence, working on national sponsorships and engaging new companies and corporations, while still maintaining oversight and relationships with the two original communities.

The National Director of SunriseWALKS/Peer to Peer (ND) is responsible for a minimum $2 million portfolio ($1.1 million on Long Island and the balance nationwide) which is achieved by executing and optimizing the Sunrise Association's P2P fundraising campaigns, including Walks, Endurance and third-party activities; to build relationships and inspire donors to support the mission of Sunrise Association, leading them towards deeper levels of engagement and support. The successful candidate must have first-rate interpersonal skills, passion, and the ability to persuade others to bring in more donors and funds so that we can help more children.

The ND is an energetic, ambitious highly organized event planner who will successfully partner with the Sunrise Association team and volunteer leadership to ensure the success of all P2P events. Your creativity and enthusiasm should be evident in all you do.

Job Responsibilities:

This is a high-level position that reports directly to the Sunrise Association's Chief Development Officer.

Primary responsibility is for the Long Island and Rockland County WALKS through direct work and guidance of the team on the ground in both areas.

To ensure successful development, organization, marketing, post-event activities, event evaluation and implementation of all P2P events

Coaching Regional Directors to maximize effectiveness of planning committees, revenue, and field questions

Ensure consistent, meaningful, year-round stewardship for all P2P fundraising participants and volunteer leaders

Work with our accounting department in managing P2P budgets, and track income and expenses

To create and nurture local and national sponsorships opportunities

Actively identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective P2P hosts, supporters and events including but not limited to Do-It-Yourself (DIY) events, Endurance events (marathons, etc.) corporate and social media challenges

With regards to DIY events:

Create and manage "took kit" for events under $50k

With regards to Endurance events:

Coordinate all filings, pre, day of, and post event activities

Promote/coordinate these events within the SA national network. Maintain, evaluate, and optimize online P2P fundraising tools including, Neon One, Charity Dynamics, Hussle and other P2P technology providers

To build strong relationships with volunteers to ensure retention of key local leaders, fundraisers, and committees

To provide event hosts logistical support to maximize their fundraising potential

Measure, evaluate, analyze, and refine recruitment and fundraising strategies to enhance participation and revenue

To conduct post-event follow up to influence future approaches

To work with our Marketing Department to develop marketing strategies and plans for all events, including social media campaigns

To attend out-of-State events and support regional committees with execution of Walk/Endurance plan

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

Candidate must have a minimum 5 years of successful fundraising and event coordination experience, and/or P2P experience (candidatures without fundraising or event experience will not be considered).

Experience in successfully managing teams and staff

Ability to multi-task while remaining focused

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, CRM databases
