Principal Responsibilities:

The Program Coordinator plans, implements, and leads programs and activities for the Riverdale Y's New York City funded Older Adult Center.

This is a full-time (35 hours) in-person union position (District Council 37), with full benefits including free family Y membership.


Minimum Qualifications:

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Plan and implement in person and virtual activities and events for the Older Adult Center.
  2. Develop monthly calendar of events, flyers, and other promotional materials.
  3. Work collaboratively with Older Adult Center staff and volunteers to coordinate programs.
  4. Oversee and evaluate performance of both volunteer and paid consultants.Coordinate and track payments.
  5. Engage members in programs and educate them about upcoming Older Adult Center activities.
  6. Lead select activities, trips, and programs.
  7. Monitor activity budget and expenditures to ensure cost containment.
  8. Collaborate with outside organizations for optimal programming.
  9. Complete required paperwork for all programs/activities.
  10. Oversee dining room during lunch, parties, and special events. Assist with serving and set-up when necessary.
  11. Coordinate with facilities staff to ensure room availability and setup.
  12. Document information and referrals provided to clients in our database.
  13. Intervene in emergencies according to agency protocols.
  14. Participate in regular supervisory conferences, agency staff development activities, and outside conferences.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Older Adult Center Director, Senior Associate Administrator, or Executive Director

POSITION REQUIREMENT

Computer proficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google Docs. Internet Functions and Social Media

C.P.R. and First Aid Certification or willingness to certify

Strong Organizational Skills and Attention to Detail

Bachelor's Degree in Arts or other Humanities Discipline

Comfort with Jewish Culture or Willingness to Learn

The Riverdale Y is a 75,000 sq. ft. Jewish Community Center that provides educational, recreational, cultural, and wellness programs for children and adults of all ages and backgrounds. The Y features an early childhood center; summer camps; large after school program; senior center; performing arts center featuring theater, dance and music schools; and a health & wellness center that includes cardio and free weight studios, group exercise classes, gymnasium, swimming pool, steam room, sauna and massage therapy.
