Job Overview:
The Riverdale Y seeks an Aquatics Director to lead programs and services that build and foster a healthier, more active community, using our beautiful, salt-synergy pool as the primary driver. The Director is responsible for overseeing all Aquatics programs and operations and building a collaborative team to create a highly functional, productive, and positive swim environment for members and participants. The Director is an integral part of the Membership Experience team, including the Membership, Fitness and Sports departments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities include:
- Recruit, orient, train, supervise, and evaluate all staff members working for the Aquatics department and supporting programs, ensuring the highest level of professionalism, customer service, and safety
- Implement a comprehensive year-round program of group lessons, private lessons, summer camp, and special events in coordination with agency priorities and needs
- Develop, promote, sell and manage high quality, revenue-generating Aquatics programs
- Teach group and private lessons, where appropriate, and conduct trainings in lifeguarding, WSI, CPR/AED, and first aid to agency staff as well as community participants
- Develop a schedule of instructors and lifeguards to manage membership swim, lessons, and other Aquatics programs, and collaborate with other departments to create a pool and staff schedule that maximizes Aquatics support to all Riverdale Y programming
- Manage the total maintenance operations and standards of the Aquatics facilities, in consultation with the Facilities Director, to comply with agency regulations and state and local health department regulations, including permits, certifications, and emergency equipment
- Train staff on emergency prevention, response, and reporting
- Communicate with external partners regarding rental contracts and usage, ensuring appropriate staffing and scheduling
- Develop and manage the annual budget for the Riverdale YM-YWHA Aquatics programs within approved budget guidelines, in consultation with supervisor and CFO
- Participate in agency-wide meetings and programs, including weekly staff meetings, the annual Riverdale Run and Open House
- Prepare and oversee timely and accurate submission of payroll
- Ensure Aquatic program materials and supplies are well-maintained, stored, cleaned and organized
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including early morning, evening and weekend hours and prepared to spend whatever time necessary on site to ensure the pool is operating at its highest level

Qualifications:
- Minimum five years in Aquatics industry
- Certifications in LGI, WSI, CPR, AED and First Aid
- Certified Pool Operator or able to obtain within six months of employment
- Experience working or volunteering in the nonprofit sector preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to lead, motivate, train and manage staff
- Ability to delegate responsibilities
- Cultural competence in working with colleagues and clients of diverse backgrounds and identities
- Knowledge of Jewish holidays, traditions and culture a plus
- Bachelor's Degree in sports, fitness or related field preferred
Salary: $60,000-$70,000 (commensurate with experience), including the following benefits:

This is a full-time, in-person role, Sunday - Thursday with occasional evenings and holidays throughout the year.
Salary:
$65,000 - $75,000
